The actual skirt is somewhere between ankle and knee length, built up by several layers of flounces. As for other attributes of the Christine Daae costume Halloween, we recommend you purchase a brown wig and put it in a high hairstyle with curls. It is a traditional white wedding dress with a fitted bodice and a wide skirt bolstered by a bussle or petticoat. It was unbelievably difficult for us to make our suit and dress but with our parents help I like to think we are pretty decent tailors now. Well first off I decided I needed to grow my hair out, so I could slick it back and really pull off the Phantom look, lucky for me I have dark hair. I love these looks because they evoke comedic Mozart operas, which is actually how I got my start—I was contacted by a NY agent after my (small) role of Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro at Yale Opera my senior year of college.

Over the years, Christine Daae's dressing costumes have been subject to many interpretations, giving you freedom of expression to create your cosplay. Again the red, green and gold shades are kept, and again the design shows how Victorians would envision a historical style rather than showing actual historical style. Interestingly, it is the most modest neckline I wear in the show (which I skillfully covered up in the first picture with my sheet music—oops! In the movie, "Notes" gets split so that it occurs right after "Masquerade" and follows "Wandering Child.I also prefer the movie over the play because i feel like i could sink right into it and feel as the characters do but in the play all i could think about is the excitement of it all instead of the true meaning of the phantom of the opera. They can be obtained from the internet, but I made our own, using a piece of wood and 2 metal prongs. In the movie, she doesn't finish changing, so she goes out in a corset with pink details, a pink skirt, and a red velvet cloak.

Also, this is one of two costumes I actually get to put on in my dressing room (hence the good lighting)—all of the others are quick changes. The simplicity of the film costume helps convey the intimacy of the scene, as well as Christine's emotional fragility. It has an asymmetrical overlay on the front that drapes around the side and covers the skirt, which is ruffled (much like the stage show). Though Christine doesn’t get to show these sides of her own personality elsewhere in the show, I like to think they are a part of her and she loves getting to explore them through the opera. The movie dress is not as opulent as the stage version, but it's still lovely, even if it doesn't have the same wow factor.

It mimics the late 17th century/ early 18th century Mantua, especially in the waterfall backdrapes and the engageant sleeves. The colours are kept in fresh pastels, ochre, mint, pink, turquoise, green, opposite delicate white lace.

It would have made more sense to either have her go down to the Phantom's lair in her "Think of Me" dress or have her change into a dress for dinner. The actual bodice is made of a ribbed cream/metallic fabric, and has either fan decorations or glittering appliqués - or both - over the bust. Christine Daae is a fictional character and the protagonist of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera and various film adaptations, including the most popular musical, released in 2004. Please follow my tutorial for Ariel's Kiss The Girl costume for corset instructions, as I forgot to take pictures when making this dress. She is an extremely gifted singer and The Phantom of the Opera has been her favorite since she was a kid.
