With the game allowing you to mime, at the very least I think you could at least pretend to draw the word as that is a form of miming. You definitely wouldn't be able to spell out the word by miming out the letters. Whether you can actually use a pencil/pen and paper to actually draw the object where your teammates can see it drawn out becomes the question. In this regard I can see both sides.
