Description

Is this the right time for you to upgrade your audio interface and get something that will add a little bit more to the sound? Well, look no further. The UAD Volt 476P, with the in-built vintage sounding preamps and compression, besides the regular high-quality recording, will tame the peaks of your recordings as well – while adding a touch of vintage sound. Note: There are no gain controls on the line 3-4 inputs. Any level controls must be configured in your software. (17) Monitor Outputs The mic preamps have a dynamic range of 112dB (A-weighted), THD + Noise of -103dB (0.0007%) (1kHz @ 1% dBFS), equivalent input noise of -127dBu and 55dB of available gain. While this isn’t the largest amount of variable gain I’ve seen on an entry-level interface, one would have to think that this has been optimised to suit UA’s industry leading approach to preamp emulation.

You can monitor multiple sources at the same time. Enable all sources that you want to route to monitor outputs and headphones.Press the 76 Compressor button to select the desired preset (VOC, GTR, or FAST), based on the source you're recording. I found it improved the sound of virtually any source I recorded through it, including vocals, guitars, mandolin and bass. Universal Audio has a stellar pedigree in audio recording. First established in 1958, the company was reformed by the sons of the original owner in 1999. Perhaps now best known for its Apollo line of professional audio interfaces, UA has joined the ranks of other audio companies like Focusrite and SSL and now makes audio interfaces aimed at the lower end of the market. Called Volt, the series offers UA-quality sound at prices that anyone can afford. Hardware inputs 3-4 are routed to the audio software, but not directly to the monitor and headphone outputs. You can still hear direct audio from the inputs if IN sources are enabled, even if no OUT sources are enabled for monitoring. In this scenario you can monitor your input sources, even if you are not monitoring any output from audio software.

Your system sounds will now play through Volt, and the first input on Volt will be the default audio source. Set up Volt for audio software I/O on macOS Vintage Mic Preamp mode for recording your voice or guitar with the rich, full sound of an iconic UA tube preamp With Volt, you are given access to a carefully selected range of useful, creative and inspiring music production tools that will help you to create the music you've always dreamt of. Where other interfaces may include an overwhelming range of options, Volt gives you exactly what you need to stay inspired and level up your production. Discover plug-ins such as Celemony's Melodyne, a pitch correction software, as well as virtual instruments from Spitfire Audio and UJAM and of course a place to record it all onto with the Ableton Live DAW. Versatile connectivity optionsWhen you register your new Volt hardware, you are eligible to receive the Volt software bundle and any updates.

Universal Audio's Volt 476P - a desktop 4-in/4-out USB 2.0 audio interface - is the perfect choice for those looking for a simple recording workflow with a studio-ready sound. Simply plug directly into your PC or Mac (or your iPad or iPhone if you're more inclined towards some portable production) and create professional quality audio with ease. Key Features For optimum gain, rotate the knob to adjust the input signal level while monitoring the source that is connected, so the input meter (13) shows signal but does not light red. The red input LED lights when the input signal is near 0 dB (clipping). Like the other Volts, the 476P implements direct monitoring in hardware. There are four possible sources that can be monitored directly: inputs 1+2, inputs 3+4, outputs 1+2 and outputs 3+4. These can be switched in and out in any combination using dedicated buttons, and another button collapses the inputs to mono in the monitor path. However, there’s no way to alter the balance between input and output signals, and the headphones and main monitors always share the same signal. Conclusion Volt 476P is the perfect USB audio interface for creative collaborators who want to easily record larger audio projects with legendary studio sound. Plug right into your Mac, PC, iPad, or iPhone and Volt just shows up, ready to capture your inspiration with professional sound, courtesy of Universal Audio. Collaborate with Best-in-Class Audio QualityComes included with a range of premium production software including Ableton Live Lite, Melodyne, UJAM's virtual drummer, Softube guitar and bass amplifiers including Marshall Plexi Classic and Ampeg bass amp. Note: To learn how to use Volt’s hardware controls and connections, please see the hardware manual for your specific Volt model. Article Contents The mic pres are lovely on the Volt 476P, clear and transparent and a coup at this price range. For something a little more vibey, you can engage the Vintage button, which adds tube-emulated saturation based on the company’s famous 610 preamp. Note: The monitor outputs are not powered. You will need to connect the cables to either powered speakers or an amp with speakers.
