This time around, Ellie has to watch as all of the key relationships in her life start to fall apart.

Why is goddess Ms Wilson encouraging young girls to get back with boys who patronise them, bully them into things they're not ready for and also make out with their best friends and then claim "but I was drunk" as an excuse. this book is amazing for young teenagers it is perfect, there is laughing, crying and DRAMA of course, i would recommend this book to anyone between th age of 11 to 15. Just because he’s the first boy to show and interest in her doesn’t mean she should be willing to overlook anything. The main focus was Ellie's relationship with Russell, which didn't really develop beyond how the third book (Girls Out Late) had ended. She rightfully gets upset, Nadine, her other best friend, stays with Magda and tells her she's overreacting, Magda and Russell both worm their ways back into Ellie's life and everyone's back together by the end.Double Act won the prestigious Smarties Medal and the Children’s Book Award as well as being highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. A far cry from traditional middle-grade fiction, this British import is an eye-opening but long-winded account of life in a dingy shelter hotel. Needless to say, reading these books when you're older opens up a new perspective of the world as it highlights its flaws subtly.

One of Jacqueline’s most successful and enduring creations has been the famous Tracy Beaker, who first appeared in 1991 in The Story of Tracy Beaker. I'm not sure if it's ennui at reading them one after the other (not to mention being way outside the target age range now), but this felt like a poor relation to the first three. It feels very juvenile, verging on condescending, for a novel aimed at 14-15 year olds, yet the subject matter itself straddles that line between being too ‘adult’.

I still today recommend her books to younger girls I know, and I hope that they will find the same joy as I did while reading her books. More time could have been given to Nadine's Internet dating storyline, although this was possibly difficult to achieve when the books are written from Ellie's POV. Nick Sharratt has written and illustrated many books for children and won numerous awards for his picture books, including the Sheffield Children's Book Award and the 2001 Children's Book Award.

Russell gets more toxic by the page in this book - his infamous trait of constantly pressuring Ellie into sex rears its ugly head and is never treated as disgusting and wrong as it actually is.I know that its something of a cliche that all young people are obsessed with finding love but it would have been nice if the other layers of these books featured so prominently.
