Again, if you are that rider who frequently take the rugged to terrains, this phenomenon may not be new to you. One time when I’d just replaced my cranks, cassette, and chain, I heard non-tuned “guitar sounds” coming from my rear wheel during a short ascent that’d forced me to shift into the smallest gear. Bike manufacturers designed the dork disc to prevent the derailleur from passing through the lowest gear and damaging the rear wheel. A spoke protector could be of great help in such a scenario as it would keep the chain from reaching the spokes. In more extreme cases, the disk can split and cause friction between the inside of the cassette's large cog and the hub and spokes.

Keeping the dork disc installed is ideal if you want to ensure that something is protecting your spokes from potential chain slipping. Under sunlight, the material degrades fairly quickly, loses flexibility, and starts to chip off at the ends. Prevents your chainset, wheel and frame from being scratched or scraped by the cassette when it shifts on rough terrain. Our favorite weekend activity is to find unique bike trails and countryside roads that we can enjoy the open air. A few weeks ago, the derailer on my touring bike caught on the chain and ripped itself off the frame. After checking the chain whip, try removing the cassette lockring again using the adjustable wrench.

Leave alone what others think; fathom about the risk you take by not having a pie disk and the cost of repairing a damaged wheel.

Now that the dork disc is no longer a part of your bike slide the cassette back to where you removed it. If you put even minimal value on your bike and want to prevent expensive repairs, then I recommend that you keep the spoke protector on. There are many reasons why the chain can come off the cassette including a broken or jammed derailleur, bent pivots, damaged wheel axle, rocks or debris, doing jumps or ramps, improper shifting while going through rough terrain.

Having said that, in some cases, you could use strong and long scissors to break the spoke protector and remove it without additional disassembly. If you treat your bike well and test changes to chain/cassette/derailleur on a repair stand instead of the road, it's an utterly useless, Until you happen to be climbing hard, and the chain drops off inside the largest cog when you shift because your frame is flexing. When you ignore the dreaded look of a spoke protector, you’re left with four additional shortcomings: 1.p>

Late or missing payments may have serious consequences for you and cause you serious money problems. Whether it is the weight of the rider or the bike itself, all the related forces pass through the spokes.
