Very near fine set comprising the four First Edition volumes of Churchill s classic history, illustrated with maps and genealogical tables. The bottom turn-in of each rear pastedown features the gilt-stamped signature "BOUND BY KINGSPORT PRESS". The dust jackets are bound in a uniform style with a horizontal band of color across the front face and spine against a contrasting color, but each jacket features a different color scheme and front cover photograph portrait of Churchill on the lower front face. The work met with acclaim and proved an international best-seller, further vindicating Churchill's receipt of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.By reading this 4-volume book, one gets a glimpse of Winston Churchill's intricate thinking pattern.
