Description

She dragged herself through the evening, feeling exhausted but too stressed out to imagine she’d sleep if she went to bed early.

So she wasn’t upset when the IRS had stepped in and put a hold on the estate until Blair’s four million dollar house sold and taxes were collected on his illegal, unreported earnings. As a newly minted private investigator, Nicole Graves expects to take on legal cases for corporate clients. She probably wasn’t in the witness protection program, since they would have provided her with a credible past. A. This made her job infinitely easier than having to track down someone with a common name, like a Jane Smith or a Robert Jones. There are many times within the story when the reader knows more about what is going on than Nicole, because they have read Stephanie’s parts. When Nicole’s life takes an unexpected turn, she uncovers evil and corruption among the city’s most powerful people. It was of pale-gray stucco with a single dark beam running across the front, marking the division between the first floor and second.

When Nicole had read about the first two home invasion-kidnapping cases, she’d been puzzled by the relatively modest amount of ransom when the victims were extremely wealthy and probably would have paid a great deal more. It showed three men in hoodies and ski masks carrying Ashley, limp and apparently unconscious, out of the house. Vibrant street scenes, swift pacing, and Nicole's steely nerve make The Entitled an entertaining adventure. Many thanks to the author / INscribe Digital / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. When their most terrifying threat is delivered to her door, Nicole is faced with a terrible choice: Should she count on the police or risk going it alone? But I will say that we’ve looked into the MO of the perps, and it fits the pattern of the earlier kidnappings.

Boyarsky’s weightless complications expertly combine menace with bling, making the heroine’s adventures both nightmarish and dreamy. I had no difficulty at all reading this book with its American cultures etc - I simply enjoyed being in Nicole’s shoes as she solved the mystery. Nicole was not a close friend to this workmate and does not know why he was murdered or why he left all his wealth to her. She tried to read, but her mind kept shifting back to the previous year and the way she’d come into Blair’s unwanted bequest. At first, it appears to be the work of a serial kidnapping ring, and all she’d have to do is pay the ransom, and her sister would be released.

Now you get two points of view, the main focus being Nicole but a substantial although secondary focus on Stephanie.

Or was this rash of kidnappings something else altogether, like a sophisticated insurance scam or a weird, twisted prank that was the product of a sick mind? Every month, Brad would come to me asking for fifteen thousand dollars to twenty thousand dollars from his trust.I always love a strong female lead, especially one who is performing in an area usually reserved for the macho male character. Not only does she use Los Angeles as a back-drop to her story but she uses American words and expressions that give British readers a lot to think about. It's simple enough, except for one caveat: No matter what these people do, she's to tell her handler at MI6—no one else, especially not the Russian police.
