For those that go by similarity in making your decision, yes this is very close to Maison Margiela "By the Fireplace. This is one of 30 Lattafa scents I purchased a year ago which have sat on the shelf unopened until this week. This Arabian Oud gift set will be perfect for every occasion- birthdays, anniversaries, and for him and her. I remember a strong smoky woody perfume with hints of soft leather and a caramel-like accent that softens the strong oud and deepens the fragrance.

I understand the comparisons to by the fireplace, but at the same time this fragrance is different too. The lack of color is felt as a loss, and it doesn't look or feel alive in the same way, but it is still art.The last (so far) of the Ameers, Ameer Al Oud Intense oud isn't that smokey, this note is very tamed and pleasant.

I say go for this one, unless you’re after that burning wood scent, which is definitely perfected in BTF. This is one of my favorite wearable western/eastern oud fragrances (it's slightly more oudy than m7 oud). There is undoubtedly a strong chemical solvent smell that lingers after the opening, it’s something I enjoy to be fair but would easily be hated by some. The projection and Longevity were so strong I tried rubbing the smell of with soap and water because i hated the smell and still the smell didn't come off.
