I'm not sure if I'll pick up more from this author if this is her usual style, and don't reccommend this if you want to read something more lyrical, as I did. Whether or not you're a big fan of poetry, I absolutely recommend picking this book up, because I can absolutely guarantee that you will fall in love with it. I didn't know anything about Sarah Kay or her poetry before I met her at the signing for Jonny Sun's book this past June, but once I heard her read her poem "The Paradox," I was immediately enthralled and added her poetry collection, No Matter The Wreckage, to my TBR and my Christmas want list. Maybe the next time you see love is twenty years after the divorce, love is older now, but just as beautiful as you remembered. Here are some of the poems from this collection performed by Sarah: (I highly recommend watching them! She was a featured poet on HBO's "Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry Jam" in 2006, and that year she was also the youngest poet to compete in the National Poetry Slam. In No Matter the Wreckage , Sarah Kay takes you on a profound journey through her self-discovery in New York.Since No Matter the Wreckage includes poetry from a span of ten years of my life, it was inevitable that at some point my family would be included, since there were plenty of times in that decade when I was navigating family dynamics and history. For a future book there may be value in considering whether playing with grammar, spacing, font and sizing changes etc. It doesn't have to rhyme necessarily, but it has to have a certain flow, a special way with the words - metaphoric or clever or vivid, but it has to surprise you or pierce your heart. One aspect that really took my breath away was Kay’s ability to render ideas of her own into intricate details with the significance still intact.

A lovely book of poems to take your time with or like me when you find yourself with a cup of tea in one hand this book should be in the other. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. They felt deep, touching, clever, real, conveyed oceans of feeling and resonated with some of my own experiences. The poetry books I have read so far are either lackluster or bland in terms of writing, but this book completely changed my viewpoint on poetry.She is an education advocate and keynote speaker for education organizations like NAIS, ECIS, AISA, and IBO, among others.

Poets as such are few and far between, and if this is what Sarah Kay has to offer in her 20’s I cannot begin to imagine what her life long career and future works will be like. On a practical level, a poem that is spoken benefits from being presented with the tempo and emphasis that the poet had in mind. I believe that this latter point is a reason that spoken-word poetry has become popular amongst many people are who are not real poetry fans.And then again, you are brought to post-apartheid Cape Town where you can almost smell the rusty cage in which pigeons were housed. On the other hand I figured that the accessibility of the poems would make for far more enjoyable reading than most poetry books.
