About this deal

Unfortunately, they are quickly apprehended by the Delta Force soldiers, revealing that Pickering is the mastermind behind the attempts to kill the scientists. A Delta MNVAS Force team is also observing the discovery, monitoring the NASA staff for an unknown commander. The scan shows Ming's body in the water and a column of frozen sea ice beneath the meteorite where it was drilled up into the glacier.

The discovery comes at a time close to the United States presidential election in which her father is running.Big Mystery + Male Protagonist + Female Protagonist + Code to Solve + OMG TRAITOR WITH TWISTED MOTIVES = Best Selling Novel. In the world of page-turning thrillers, Dan Brown holds a special place in the hearts of many of us. Also, if you've read other books by him you'll know what to expect: a male and a female protagonist, a mystery, lots of conspiracy theories, dangerous situations to survive miraculously from, and a twist at the end. When the senator's campaign collapses, she infiltrates NASA to help salvage the campaign by finding potential evidences of falsification.

When Rachel arrived at her father's table, the senator was on his cellphone talking loudly about one of his recent successes.

It is complicated by the presidential election about to take place and the main opposition candidate's visceral and selfish desire to gain office, come what may. Second, my daughter is not employed by the President; she is employed by the intelligence community. I of course hate Dan Brown but I figure it'd be fast and I could thank her for it, mention some interesting tidbits that are no doubt sprinkled throughout the book for idiots, and feel good about family duty.

Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable - evidence of scientific trickery - a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. Whether the security leaks have come from the repeated “skyquakes” heard as far away as Los Angeles, or the unfortunate eyewitness sightings by a North Sea oil rig driller, or the administrative gaffe that left a description of Aurora in a public copy of the Pentagon budget, nobody will ever know. William Pickering: The main antagonist, director of NRO and the handler of the Delta Force team featured in the book, he is the mastermind behind main plot line. This book, like the others, reads too much like a Hollywood script for me (in fact I can totally see this being made into a movie). Rachel Sexton: A data analyst for NRO and Senator Sexton's daughter, Rachel's relationship with her father is antagonistic because of his infidelity, which indirectly contributed to her mother's death in an accident. If so, their motive would be to cover up evidence that the meteorite is fake and solely designed to gain support for the incumbent President in the upcoming election. This author has a history and a deserved reputation for writing huge complex novels which draw the reader in right to the end. But before Rachel can make her findings knows, she realises, perhaps too late, that such knowledge puts her and Tolland in deadly jeopardy.

Rachel is unaware of this, and believes that the President and NASA are part of the conspiracy to kill them. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place.

and while this definitely was a bit over my head when it comes to science and space knowledge, it delivered immensely in terms of suspense, thrills, and shock. But they are successful and I have to confess, even I like them, and when it comes to books I am Picky with a most definite capital P. Described as very astute and ruthless, she anonymously sends information about the president's expenditure in NASA to lure Sexton into attacking the organization. Wailee Ming: A paleontologist with an impeccable dress habit; he is drowned early in the book by Pickering's death squad when he attempted to investigate an irregularity in the extraction hole. The chapters are also set from different perspectives; this was enjoyable but sometimes chapters were a page long and the book seemed to be a bit haphazard at times.
