About this deal

The DJ built songs out of layer upon layer of sampled instruments and other sound fragments, most of which he processed, looped and re-arranged far beyond recognition. The album is considered to be a landmark work in the instrumental hip hop movement, with DJ Shadow's innovative sampling techniques and arrangements influencing other producers to create similar sample-based works. Shadow makes records the way Robert Rauschenberg made his combines: from scraps, pop artifacts, the things other people throw away. Groundbreaking debut studio album by DJ Shadow originally released in 1996 on Mo Wax, simply put a sampling masterpiece.

Great liner notes and several tunes on the second disc that wouldn't look out of place on the album. I have the original UK 1st pressing, and this repress, and head-to-head they sound virtually identical. It's fun, accessable, joyful and easy to listen to and yet is also complex, dark and involves so many different samples from multiple genres. Nowhere on the sleeves nor labels do the words "Originally released in 1996" appear on this release.

Even the iconic cover photograph by B+ was rescanned from the original negative in previously impossible - to - obtain detail. While some of his tracks float serenely on a cloud of jazzy phrasing and ambient textures, Shadow always lands on his beat. The samples Shadow used are often poor quality recorded sources anyway from scratchy old 7" singles, which were then put straight to DAT after coming out of the Akai MPC60 sampler, so you can forget about the 'analogue chain' argument here - this is as good as it is gonna get. received universal acclaim from critics, who praised DJ Shadow's approach to sampling and the beats he created from samples. Given the nature of how the music is made, it's not really surprising and not something I'd count as a knock against it.Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Donuts began simply enough as an idea to turn a particularly good demo beat tape into a full-length release, and has since became a classic hip-hop album, one of the defining works of J Dilla's life. it flips hip hop inside out all over again like a reversible glove, and again, and again, and each time it's sudden and new.

received widespread acclaim from critics, who praised DJ Shadow's approach to sampling and the beats he created from samples. And the more stuff you listen to the more you're inclined to delve into the dark and weird corners of music. by DJ Shadow accomplishes both of these and more, to create a work that is not just cohesive like most great albums should be (with the exception of 'great sprawl' albums e. T]his remains a stone classic, channeling Afrika Bambaataa's genre-splicing, DJ-booth mysticism into a fully realized studio epic.Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. It stands as one of Columbia's fastest-selling debuts to date and eventually sold over nine million copies in the U. With a message as fragmentary as an overheard conversation, Endtroducing conveys no apparent conclusion, but begs the mind, body, and soul for some rewind. While there are several singles from this album of note, the standout Track for me will always be "Organ Donor". DJ Shadow, aka Josh Davis, could be credited with bringing newfound introspection to the gloating sounds of hip-hop.
