It tells the reader about all the difficult times that people faced during the war, such as Kindertransport, Hitler and deciding whether to evacuate your children.

Furthermore, can Olive and Cliff penetrate the chill of their evacuation and find safety, solace and thereafter, Sukie?Letters from the Lighthouse has a unique plot which I personally think Emma Carroll has succeeded in to make it a bestseller. Soon Olive finds herself caught up in a dark mystery linking the disappearance of her sister Sukie with a strangely coded message. Olive is a wonderful young girl: she is clever, resilient, kind and likeable, but is also capable of making mistakes and taking actions which she later regrets.
