Part of the Animal Adventures range, every Dungeons & Doggies mini has been carefully crafted to represent a different dog breed and fantasy roleplaying class. Awakened animals are are a little more self-aware and possess more human-level intelligence. There’s a series of options for Personality Trait, Bond, Ideal, and Flaw as well. Awakened animals also possess the following: Animal Adventures brings intelligent animal characters to your favourite fantasy roleplaying game! Dungeons and Doggies is the first in a planned series of Animal Adventures releases! It is a set of highly detailed miniatures combining some favourite dog breeds with the different classes of the fifth edition of the world’s greatest roleplaying game! Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you. All of the pre-made characters match the dogs featured in Volumes 1& 2 of the Dungeons and Doggies Miniature Figures. If there’s one weak link in the chain, it’s the tokens, whose flimsy card and one-sided print job stand in stark contrast to the lush finish on the map and GM screen. But, honestly, it’s a passing quibble. They’re more than usable, and, if savings were to be made anywhere, I’m glad it was here. The overall impression is that Steamforged properly thought through how to make sure this box offered a game that was dead simple and 100% ready to play. All of which is great and everything, I hear you cry – but what about the puppers? You will be able to mix canine characters with your regular adventuring party or create an entire doggy team of heroes to save the world! The miniatures also make perfect companions and familiars for your existing characters in any fantasy setting or game! It would be a lot to go over the many new abilities and feats without simply rewriting the entire booklet, so I am going to briefly touch over what all can be found in these areas. Canine Traits These adorable dogs make pawsome player characters, companions, and NPC’s. Or, simply paint them to create a charming display! DC is 8 + Charisma modifier. Dogs get a variety of new Abilities that can also be swapped out for a Feat under the optional Feat Rules. Any dog owner is bound to read the list and start making a mental list of which Abilities they think their own canine family members possess. There are 22 new options, but I’ll share a few of them below: Channel Divinity: Invoke Companionship: Starting at 2nd Level, heal creatures within 30 ft for Temporary Hit Points equal Cleric Level. Invite intelligent dogs on your tabletop adventures with Dungeons & Doggies, the original collection of fifth-edition-compatible dog miniatures (that are all just bursting with character!). In addition, the section guiding the GM through the starter set’s adventure has some very sensible and plain-spoken tips for keeping play flowing; some good introductory text to read out in each area; and clear reassurances that fun is more important than rules, instilling the correct ideas about RPGing early on.

If you’re unfamiliar, the Animal Adventures series features animals dressed like classic fantasy classes, such as wizards and warriors - except they happen to be cats and dogs instead of Dungeons & Dragons character races like humans, orcs or elves. As a result of their one-piece construction, each mini also has very pronounced mould lines, which – for once – I didn’t remove before painting, only because I didn’t think I could do so without damaging the models’ dense and tiny details. This will present no problem tomany players, but, to the mini painters considering this set: beware. The adventure itself is straight up and down, well-trodden level one Dungeons and Dragons fare – a rescue mission in a mad alchemist’s lair that’ll see your paw-footed party sneaking through a sewer, battling undead critters, and investigating rooms in the headquarters of the dastardly… sigh… Doktor Krankensteen.Volume 2 contains the following: Miniatures from ‘Dungeons and Doggies Volume 2.’ Photo by Elizabeth MacAndrew. The easiest way to create subraces for dogs seems to be based on their size since there are so many different dogs in the world. The following modifications are made for subraces: Animal Adventures: Secrets of Gullet Cove will offer up a complete set of rules that work with Dungeons & Dragons 5E, introducing brand new non-player characters and a series of multi-part adventures.

They’re detailed, well-made, characterful, and low-maintenance – exactly what you want from D&D miniatures. But what about the game you’re going to play with them?
