About this deal

There are ways to increase the number of points you score when cooking your mushrooms. This is with the butter or cidre cards. In this Fungi card game guide, I’ll walk you through how to play, what you need to know, and some strategy tips. Before you Begin Image From Benjamin Kitchen Players take on the role of mushroom foragers, collecting and trading different species of fungi to create the most valuable collection and cook their mushrooms to create the most delicious meals and earn points. Each player will start the game with a pan and three other randomly dealt forest cards. A “forest” will also be dealt, which is eight randomly dealt cards from the forest pile, that runs horizontally across your playing surface. The shoes will be placed below the two cards furthest from the draw pile, which is made up of the remaining forest cards.

Not suitable for large groups: Fungi is made for only two players, as larger groups can make the game more chaotic and difficult to manage. Put cards straight into your hand unless they’re a Basket, Fly agaric, or Moon, in which case play them immediately. 2. Put a Pan downNow you are almost set. To finish give each player three overview cards which will help keep everyone right with the actions of the game, and three cards each from the forest draw pile, these will form the player's starting hand. There are a few special cards which if drawn will need to be treated differently. The game finishes when the last card from the Forest has been taken. It stops immediately. Don’t finish the turn or allow each other one last go. It’s like that moment on a cookery show when the hosts force the contestants to “Stop cooking!” If you take a Pan from the Forest, you must put it in your hand. You can’t play it on the same go. After your opponent has their turn, place the Pan in your Display area. See if you have what it takes to be the mushroom master in Funky Fungi from Ridley's Games! In this card-collecting game that will definitely grow on you, forage for the best fungi to be the first player to reach ten points and win the game.

According to the rules, the player who goes first is the player who last ate a mushroom. This rule is funny to me because whenever I play this game with the family, my Mum always goes first, because she loves eating mushrooms, and no one else does! Here's The Components

If you fancy a beautiful and strategic mushroom foraging trip, Pegasus Press’ Fungi may right up your woodland path. In this neat card game two players compete to collect and cook the most rare and delicious mushrooms they can as they move along a pathway of forest cards representing the route they’re strolling through the wood. Each turn, you get one action. You must do one of these actions if possible. If you can’t do anything (usually because you’ve hit your hand limit by accident!), you’ll need to watch the other player taking as many turns as they want until you can go again. Torturous. After playing a few rounds of what I’ve called the “straight-line” setup, you’ll appreciate this so much. Trust me. The alternative Forest and Decay setup means you spend much less time sliding the cards around and, in my opinion, makes everything flow much better. The game is light weight with simple to perform actions and easy choices at the start of the game, which become more difficult as the game progresses. The game is very easy to teach and understand and each player gets 3 overview cards summarising all the actions they can take on their turn. The rulebook is well laid out with clear easy to understand examples and also has a glossary of the mushrooms adding to the theme of the game. The game takes up a very small amount of table space with the forest and player areas. The setup and teardown time is minimal with some shuffling and separating of cards.
