The distillery is open for you to attend a distillery experience, including tours, tasting sessions, and gin school. After the tour and tasting experience, we stayed at The Traveller’s B&B, a family-run bed and breakfast just a couple of minutes’ walk from the town centre. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but most importantly, the breakfast was delicious! You can have a full English (with Lincolnshire sausage of course), and there is also a buffet of cereals, fruits, yoghurts and juices to enjoy. Next time we visit Louth we’ll definitely be trying out the distillery’s Gin School. Using your own still you’ll be shown how to make your own personalised gin, and take away a 70cl bottle at the end. When you've tried and tested them all, choose your favourite and you can enjoy a full size one to finish! So, we always find it easier to drive… which presents an obvious problem with gin tasting! Thankfully, Louth is a lovely town where we are more than happy to spend a weekend, and there is a choice of homely, welcoming places to stay. There is a friendly staff team at Louth Distillery, which has grown with increased demand for Pin Gin and a second flagship product, Rum Cat. But it was Alan himself who showed us around and explain how the process works.

Bottomley Distillers, the producers of one of the county's most recognisable brands, Pin Gin, is gearing up to open a visitor centre which will include a bar with a courtyard, a spirit school and events space at its new headquarters in Louth. Plymouth Gin : A fruitier profile with a full body, Plymouth Gin is a perfect candidate for the pink gin. There they invested in larger equipment to launch an entire range of Pin Gin flavours, including pink, orange and spiced, as well as a new product, Rum Cat.The latest step in the Louth Distillery journey is that the premises have been opened up for the public to take tours and see where the magic happens, as well as trying out various flavours of Pin Gin, or even making your own bottle.

There's no firm opening date for the visitor centre yet but they hope to officially launch in the summer next year when tours and the spirit school will be pre-booking only but the bar will be open to the public. In England, we work in the metric system of ml and a single shot is only 25ml.As part of our latest big gin taste test, our panel of spirits experts and gin-loving consumers tried 72 bottles, of which 22 fell into the pink gin category. Each was tried neat, and then again diluted with a small amount of water, to ensure the flavour was not impaired by any mixer. It means they can create 10,000 litres of alcohol a day. Shortly a state-of-the-art bottling line will be installed which will fill, label and seal up to 50,000 bottles a day.
