In my opinion Red Pennant is no longer worth the money. This is based on my personal experience in 2018. On my discharge from Hospital my Wife told me that she had never felt so alone in her life thanks to Red Pennant.In fact dealing with Red Pennant was more stressful than the medical incident itself. The friendly and multilingual Emergency Assistance Red Pennant team are based in the UK and are there to assist you whenever you need them, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For much of the cover that Red Pennant offers, the cover is ‘total cost’. Most members will travel to or through France as part of a Continental holiday. A breakdown on a French motorway can easily exceed the limits of cover offered by many of our competitors. There are a number of ways to ensure you get the best value for your money on a motorhome and campervan insurance policy. The most obvious is to shop around, but other things to think about include being realistic about your usage - many policies include low-mileage discounts. I have lost count of the number of Club surveys I have completed asking for a menu system for breakdown cover including the options mentioned above. However, Mollysmummy has a point, RP could perhaps offer more of its cover as options thereby giving members more choice of what to insure and perhaps obtain cheaper cover. I've done an online quote for the Red Pennant Travel Insurance and in the health screening I selected Yes to the following:-The Caravan Club Ltd, East Grinstead House, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1UA, which trades as Caravan and Motorhome Club is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for general insurance and credit activities. Of those cancelled nights, over 25% are made within four days of arrival, so it’s very difficult for other members to take advantage of the newly vacant pitches. The personal service you gave has been second to none and was very reassuring at a very difficult time for us. After the service you have provided and the speed of processing of our claim we would have no hesitation in recommending Red Pennant to other caravan and motorhome owners." So there we are. It's now as clear as mud. A caravan needs to be serviced as a condition of Red Pennant. Or it may not.
