This grass seed is explicitly blended for shaded areas of the garden and comprises seven different types of grass, many of which have been recommended by the RHS: Covered with a green coating, it seems to deter birds – possibly because they can’t see it as easily, or because it no longer smells like seed to them. Either way, once raked in, they are less likely to steal it all away than they might with other seed. Unless the seed variety absolutely requires it I prefer NOT to cover my seeds trays with plastic bags, Whilst germination is often faster this way, it greatly increases the risk of rot. I prefer to place my seed trans inside a watertight plastic tray and water from the bottom - airflow over the surface reduces the risk.
