About this deal

At first glance, you’ll notice just how large the R-Series is. It’s a full 20cm wider than the Aqua Fast and Light. As a result, you’ve got sizeable footprint inside to fit days worth of kit. This does have one downside though, weight. The HQ Dual Layer is known to be a heavy brolly system, so this is worth bearing in mind. If you’re looking for something easy to transport, this isn’t the one for you! A nice addition is the vents on the side, which is something you don’t normally see in budget brollies and bivvies.

We found that the Fox R-series brolly system is a really solid, well thought-out, and well-built fishing shelter and is a great all-rounder. And secondly, the ribs are cut down to just 55 inches. With most brolly systems having 60inch ribs, this might sound like you’re losing some space. But with the extra rib and two redesigned ‘wings’, you’ve got more of a round profile that adequately protects you and your gear. We are avid fans of the original Fox easy shelter that served us on many carp fishing sessions across the years. On the plus side, you do get an integrated front with the EOS Brolly. This is ideal for keeping the wind and rain at bay. The Fox R Series Brolly System features a space saving mechanism for increased internal headroom and comes supplied with zip-on, fully removable Fox R-Series Brolly Infill Panel that features three door options - clear PVC, solid Khaki and mozzy mesh. The extended side skirts allow for extra protection from the elements in particularly bad conditions. So now we know what features to look out for in the best fishing day shelter, what are the pros and cons of using them. The pros and cons of fishing day shelters Pros

If your aim is to cut down the size and heft of your kit, then pay close attention to the weight of the shelter you’re considering.

Understanding the Fox Bivvy Range

Supplied with zip-on, fully removable R-Series Brolly Infill Panel that features three door options - clear PVC, solid Khaki and mozzy mesh If you have decided that a brolly system is for you, here are some things you might want to look out for. Setup time A term often bandied about when it comes to shelters, the hydrostatic head rating of a bivvy relates to waterproofing. The compact nature of the fishing shelter makes it slim enough to easily fit in your rod holdall with plenty of room spare for landing net handles and such. The Fox R-Series Fishing Brolly offers anglers a versatile and practical shelter solution for various fishing situations. Its unique space-saving mechanism provides increased internal headroom, ensuring a comfortable and spacious setting while you wait for the perfect catch.

There are 4 ribs that make up the frame of this brolly system which makes it sturdy and rigid and there is an option that allows you to change the doors from clear PVC, a solid Khaki door, or just the mozzy mesh. Two telescopic poles serve structural purposes as well, acting firstly as a rear pole that slots into place at either peak or base. The Fox R-Series Fishing Brolly comes with four storm caps, supplied with two 24-inch side storm poles, ensuring a secure and stable setup. The brolly also features a full-length zip on the front, allowing for the addition of an optional R-Series Infill Panel, Extension, or Mozzy panel (available separately) if desired. Well, if you buy the basic brolly you can upgrade by buying the front infill panel separately at a later date. Whether you buy it separately or go for the System from the off, these front doors have two-way zips so you can use them letterbox-style in driving wind or rain. Fox’s offerings, from the fox bivvy 2 man to the single variants, stem from a lineage of passion for angling. When opting for a Fox product, you're tapping into decades of research, innovation, and first-hand angling experience.

Typically, you don’t see this on brolly systems as they aim to keep weight to a minimum for mobile anglers. However, perhaps the most underrated advantage of a brolly system is the excellent viewpoint you get from your bedchair. Most brolly systems can be opened up completely at the front, giving you an excellent viewipoint for spotting showing fish. When extended fully, this bar offers increased rigidity throughout the shelter's interior space by providing extra tension all around its perimeter. Firstly, Aqua have added a 9th rib to the brolly, providing a peak in the centre. What this does is heighten your field of view, allowing you to sit up on the bedchair and gain a panoramic view of the water. Anglers looking for a lightweight, umbrella-type shelter that could be used overnight on warmer evenings.

A detachable groundsheet is always a good feature in a fishing day shelter and the one provided here is of good quality. Benefitting from a heaver hydrostatic head and larger footprint than the EOS, it provides that extra of coverage and comfort for those who want to use a brolly system all year.

Brand

One of the features that set the shelter apart from those similar to it, is the storm peak. This adds additional protection from rain if you are sittting in your fishing chair with all your gear around you under the shelter. The Daiwa Mission is a traditional oval brolly type day shelter with plenty of features that really set it apart from other models in the crowd. The benefit of this shape of shelter is there is plenty of room to fit your bedchair, lengthways under the whole umbrella. As the name suggests, this benefits from one feature not found on any other brolly on this guide. This carp brolly system has an inner vapour guide, designed to prevent condensation drip. The canopy of the shelter is constructed from PU-coated nylon, which has been treated to increase its durability and extend its lifespan.
