Following Joe’s bright idea and some initial research they excitedly realised that there was a gap in the marketplace for a super stylish steam iron which not only looked great and fitted in with the current retro/modern aesthetics of other household appliances but did what an iron should do, iron clothes and fabrics fantastically well. Phil Knight, ex SharkNinja SVP Global Digital has joined The Funky Appliance Company as Global Digital Director. The young UK company had a very successful Inspired Home Show 2023 in Chicago last month and is set to launch its unique and stylish range of appliances, housewares and cookware in the USA and Canada later this year. I have been an entrepreneur for the last 21 years. Before that, I worked for Wilson Sporting Goods, SAP and Compaq. Most of that time was in Munich, Germany where I lived on and off for nearly 10 years. Once I broke out to being my own person and starting new businesses, I fell in love with the challenge. Can you start a business from a blank piece of paper and make it successful? A portion of the investment reflected in this campaign was received by the Company in the 6 months prior to the launch of the investment round on Seedrs and the Company has started putting this to use. In essence, this investment over 5 years has allowed us to bring our three core products to market: the Funky Iron (December 2018) and the Funky Kettle and Funky Toaster (January 2021). All three products required significant investment in the bespoke tooling and intellectual property.
Having launched the Funky Iron in December 2018, the Funky Kettle and Funky Toaster in January 2021, we are now ready to launch our next product, the Funky Air Fryer which we intend to debut in the UK in September 2023. We expect this category will be huge for us.
