REPLICA OF WIZARDING WORLD BOOK: Includes a paper reproduction of The Tales of Beedle the Bard as featured in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. This was the wand carried by Draco Malfoy throughout his years at Hogwarts. During the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor, Harry disarmed Draco and won the wand from him, and ultimately used it until the end of the Second Wizarding War. Its ultimate fate is unknown. In the aforementioned versions of Philosopher's Stone and the console versions of Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry's wand leaks out green sparkles in nod to his iconic green eyes (and is the colour associated with him in the PC and console versions of Goblet of Fire when he's near a charm-able target). This was the wand that Lord Voldemort carried for most of his life. After his final duel with Voldemort, Harry likely won the allegiance of the wand (if it was still intact at the time). However, given the fact that Voldemort used this wand to murder Harry's parents, it is highly unlikely that Harry will ever physically possess, let alone use, the wand.

From 2nd March to 8th April the wands will tour Hull, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Reading, being displayed in each location for seven magical days During the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry duelled Lord Voldemort for the final time. As the Elder Wand, which Lord Voldemort wielded, was loyal to Harry, the Killing Curse directed at Harry rebounded and killed Lord Voldemort. Harry then used the Elder Wand to successfully repair his original wand and planned to return the Elder Wand to the grave of Albus Dumbledore. [7] Post 1998 [ ] We don't find out much about the appearance of other wands from the scene in Stone ch. 5 when Harry visits Ollivanders' shop. I don't think even Harry gets to see a large variation of them: “A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window”, and there were “the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling”. The text doesn't describe the wands that Harry tries in that shop.

The Elder Wand decides its own destiny

Could a witch have owned the Elder Wand at some point? It’s possible, especially if she did so stealthily, unknowingly or if it simply went undocumented for whatever reason. After all, entire centuries of the wand’s history remain unaccounted for. One witch even claimed to have killed the wand’s then-master (namely Loxias; the claim was made by his own mother). And what about Tina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? We saw her disarming Grindelwald. If Grindelwald had the Elder Wand at this point – did this make her the master? This was the wand carried by Hermione Granger throughout her years at Hogwarts. Harry used her wand on two occasions, firstly in June 1994 to stun Snape so he could learn about Peter Pettigrew and secondly when Hermione accidentally broke his wand in December 1997. The wand was lost after it was left behind after their escape from Malfoy Manor.

there's no point pretending that you're not good at Defence Against the Dark Arts, because you are. You were the only person last year who could throw off the Imperius Curse completely, you can produce a Patronus, you can do all sorts of stuff that full-grown wizards can't, Viktor always said... Harry knew how to do stuff even he didn't, and he was in the final year at Durmstrang." — Hermione Granger regarding Harry's magical abilities [src] The Elder Wand had a long and bloody history until it finally came into the hands of Albus Dumbledore. Though Lord Voldemort stole the wand itself from Dumbledore's grave, its true allegiance lay with Dumbledore's disarmer: Draco Malfoy. Thus when Harry won the allegiance of Draco's wand, he also won the allegiance of the Elder Wand. However, he was only in possession of the actual wand for a very short time, and performed only one spell with it — Reparo on his broken Holly wand. It appears, from this article, that JKR was consulted by the movie makers as to how the wands actually look. Harry had waved what felt like every wand in the shop, until at last he had found the one that suited him — this one, which was made of holly, eleven inches long, and contained a single feather from the tail of a phoenix. Mr Ollivander had been very surprised that Harry had been so compatible with this wand. 'Curious,' he had said, 'curious,' and not until Harry asked what was curious had Mr Ollivander explained that the phoenix feather in Harry's wand had come from the same bird that had supplied the core of Lord Voldemort's." — Description of Harry Potter's wand [src] In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it became apparent that the Elder Wand, along with the Resurrection Stone and Invisibility Cloak, were very real objects in the wizarding world. Xenophilius Lovegood's claim that the Peverell brothers – Antioch, Cadmus and Ignotus – were their original owners was supported by Albus Dumbledore’s theory that they were also the inventors. As the oldest Peverell brother, Antioch was the one associated with the Elder Wand. It goes by many namesHagrid's wand is disguised as “a battered pink umbrella”. Philosopher's Stone ch. 4 gives that brief description, and together with ch. 5 the books makes it plain that that's where his wand is, though Hagrid is not allowed to admit it. For film adaptations, Harry's wand measured approximately 14 inches long, as opposed to 11 inches in the books. [27] In the wizard fable ‘ The Tale of the Three Brothers', the eldest brother was gifted a powerful wand created by Death himself. In the end, he was murdered for his seemingly unbeatable wand. Also in the first three video games via the PS2/Xbox/GameCube versions, Harry's wand glowed at the tip with its lighting effects "leaking" from the said tip. The colour often varies however: Hull, which received the most public votes, will launch the tour, followed by Birmingham [and] Stoke-on-Trent and ending in Reading. Holly wands are said to be suited to wizards who need assistance overcoming anger issues, and those engaged in a dangerous and spiritual quest. Harry Potter dealt with overcoming anger in his adolescent years, partially caused by a shared connection with Lord Voldemort through the fragment of soul Voldemort accidentally left inside Harry. He was also prophesied to be the one to kill Voldemort, and engaged in a year-long hunt for Horcruxes in an attempt to fulfil this prophecy. Ollivander also noted that a mix of holly and phoenix feather, if properly matched, would result in a nigh-unstoppable wizard. Even less information was given about Dylan Marwood’s wand. We only know that it was made of applewood. The third was 8 ½’’ long, made of ebony and its core of unicorn hair. It was described as springy. One more Ollivander’s wand was tried out in 1984 by Jacob’s brother. It was made of apple, 9’’ long, with its core made of dragon heartstring.Though any wand can potentially switch allegiance, most hold some degree of loyalty and attachment to their masters. By contrast, the Elder Wand is ‘dispassionate and ruthless’ in its need for power, forming no true bond with the wielder.

The Unofficial Ultimate Harry Potter Spellbook is a stunning, tasteful reference that lists all the spells that have been used in the Harry Potter movies, novels, video games, card games, and authorised spinoffs like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. More than 240 spells, charms, curses, hexes, and jinxes are included, in addition to a list of magical items. The wand chooses the wizard. That much has always been clear to those of us who have studied wandlore... These connections are complex. An initial attraction, and then a mutual quest for experience, the wand learning from the wizard, the wizard from the wand." — Ollivander explaining wands' connections to wizards [src] When Harry entered the Chamber of Secrets and confronted a fragment of Lord Voldemort's soul via his diary Horcrux, the manifested soul took the wand that Harry dropped when he rushed to an unconscious Ginny Weasley, and used it to write his full name in fiery letters and then reorganised them into the phrase "I am Lord Voldemort". Harry reclaimed the wand once he destroyed the diary. [2]Harry Potter tried out several wands in 1991, all made by Ollivander. The first was made of beechwood, 9’’ long, with its core made of dragon heartstring and described as nice and flexible. The second was made of maple, 7’’ long and its core made of phoenix feather. It was described as quite whippy.
