Gibson, as the guardian angel (and avenging angel) Max, is an iconic modern anti-hero, determined to put an end to this horrific International, the movie takes place in Australia " a few years in the future". Max Rakatansky is a star member The Tools of the Wasteland – 15 minutes looking at production design of the dystopian world and its many embellishments. In the case of the Mad Max series, the third outing is the weakest entry in the franchise and not quite as good as its two predecessors. Don't get me wrong, there is still a good deal worth enjoying in George Miller's Beyond Thunderdome, and the production as a whole is, for the most part, satisfying and delivers its fair amount of visual spectacle. Over the years, the movie has grown in cult status and is reasonably well-liked by most fans, such as yours truly, mostly deriving from fond memories of seeing it in theaters and Tina Turner dominating the screen. But admittedly, and in spite of the plot's loftier goals, romanticized hopes for humanity, Miller's script, which he co-wrote with Terry Hayes, ultimately falls a bit on the hollow side and feels rushed as it tries to encapsulate a larger vision of a post-apocalyptic world at the brink of moral bankruptcy. Interviews with Mel Gibson, Joanne Samuel, and Cinematographer David Eggby - in this archival program, Mel Gibson, Joanne Samuel, and cinematographer David Eggby recall their initial impressions of the screenplay for Mad Max, contributions to the film, what it was like during the shooting process, the film's reception, etc. Also, there are some very interesting comments about the characterizations as well as the unique environment in which they are left to survive. The program previously appeared on Shout Factory's Collector's Edition of Mad Max. In English, not subtitled. (27 min, 1080p).

Radio Spots - a couple of vintage radio spots for Mad Max. In English, not subtitled. (3 min, 1080p).interiors of Bartertown and oasis-like "Planet Erf" where Max is brought by Savannah Nix. free time at home. The tale of Mad Max's international success segues nicely into bigger and better things with The Road Warrior, Anthology, a 4K set containing all four films in George Miller's post-apocalyptic franchise. No Blu-rays are included, which means that mostIn retrospect, Beyond Thunderdome is an underrated entry in the series. It may not have as much non-stop action as other installments, but its heart contains some nice thoughts on the nature of family, which is an obvious sub-text running through all the Mad Max films. The 35th anniversary DVD is loaded with extras, lots of good making of details, including some stuff on Mel Gibson. I love a great commentary, but this one is something of a disappointment in that neither Miller nor Gibson is on it. It does restore some of the original Australian audio, which was redubbed for the American release. And it is just great to see a fully restored and unedited version, so much better than the one that ran on TV the first time I saw it.

The road to Valhalla is shiny and chrome on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but it’s also a treacherous and unforgiving journey with a few hazardous obstacles and mishaps along the way. Shot on a variety of HD cameras and upscaled from a 2K DI source, the HEVC H.265 encode in HDR10 arrives with a fairly good but not wholly satisfying presentation. Compared to other UHD releases thus far, one can almost imagine Immortan Joe yelling out, "Mediocre!" But, Max and Furiosa, nonetheless, charge towards the perilous challenge head on and come out in the end with a few cuts and bruises. The Road Warrior is the only disc in this collection with any bonus content whatsoever, adding an enjoyable mid-lengthground for those more tied to "the original experience" but who want a bit of added weight. Either way, the available of all three options is very much Road Rage - in this new video interview, director George Miller discusses the cultural environment in the rural town where he grew up, how he acquired his passion for cinema, his first encounter with producer Byron Kennedy, the conception of Mad Max and its visual style, the significance of graphic violence in the film, etc. The interview was conducted exclusively for Kino Lorber in 2020. Additional participants (some who appear via archival interviews) include star Mel Gibson, screenwriter Terry Hayes, director of Initially, you may miss the dangerous, feral sexuality of Mad Max and The Road Warrior, but that’s proven to be subsumed within Fury Road’s aesthetics. The fussy specificity of this world—the set design, the wardrobes, the physical gestures—is intensely sexual, knowingly reeking of attempts at fastidious distraction from the denial of carnal satisfaction. Sex is understood to be an instrument of power in this film that’s wielded over slaves, and so the common citizenry has no idea what to do with sex when faced with freedom; in the past, for them, it has embodied oppression, though they have these biological desires to contend with nevertheless. The vehicular promenades are foreplay, the warfare is vaguely equalized fornication, and the uncertainty of the more-or-less optimistic conclusion signifies what exactly? What comes after the rehabilitation of patriarchal perversity, and are there dominating portions of that sensibility with which one’s hesitant to part? Can kink and personal health cohabitate? Image/Sound of the legacy bonus features are missing in action. It's a fine solution if you've already got the Blu-rays and want a sleek, no-nonsense 4K upgrade (or
