About this deal

I am a democrat and support the BLM movement and will clearly say, I'm not offended by anything that is said in this book. Anyone who is offended by anything in this book should not be 22 books into this series. She learns that during World War II several Wyoming soldiers were in the group that fought to Hitler's Eagles Nest retreat in the Alps--and one of them took Hitler's personal photo album. Did another take this one and keep it all these years? When she finds the name of a deceased local man who was likely in the unit, Joe visits the man's son--only to find him brutally tortured and murdered. Someone is after the photo album--but why? And when a close neighbor is murdered, Joe and Marybeth face a new question: How will they figure out the book's mystery before someone hurts them...or their girls? Big pit: A reel with a long spool designed for extreme long-range casting by reducing the resistance of the line. Sheridan and April, especially, would make a marvelous next-generation Joe-and-Nate team, and I really think it's time to hand the keys of this still-lucrative series vehicle over to them and allow Joe and Nate to slip into the emeritus-character roles they seem to have been inching toward for several novels now.)

The book has an A-plot and a B-plot. The A-plot has Joe and Marybeth mixed up in a murder plot that involves a mysterious German photo album. The B-plot centers on Nate Romanowski hunting for the man, Axel, that threatened his family and stole his falcons. Nate's story has to be a continuation of the previous novel, Dark Sky. Right? JB: In Hope we have always alluded to a real-world setting, Hope is, in effect an alternate history of post-war America with supernatural/occult overtones. It’s entirely consistent within that worldview to have “real world” historical protagonists interact directly with our fictional characters, as opposed to just seeing them in newspaper headlines or on theatre awnings.

It’s always been that way, long may it continue! I’m honoured and frankly amazed that I’m allowed to participate in and add to that legacy. It’s a great privilege, for which I’m incredibly grateful. Tristan and Robbie,” Nate echoed. “Couple of country-club names. Why am I not surprised? Shouldn’t you boys be playing video games in your parents’ basement?” Guy, Jimmy, we’re currently deep into Hope… In The Shadows Reel Two in the Prog, continuing our nightmarish journey through this magic-infused post-WWII alt-America. Axel was holding court. And it sounded to Randy like Axel was talking about antifa. 'They really don’t have any realistic goals,” Axel said. “It’s all bull***t from trust-fund militants with daddy issues. They say they want to abolish the police. They say they want no government and no capitalism and they want to return the country to indigenous tribes. But they all have the newest iPhone. It’s all just f***ing insane.' After all this time, is that still the basic way you’re collaborating, or has the familiarity that comes with a long-running series bred comfort and shorthand?

Book #23 is due out in February 2023 and is titled “Storm Watch”. The plot description with Joe sounds pretty interesting. However, the now mandatory Nate Romanowski plot is more politically tinged with Nate being approached by a shadowy militia group that wants to enlist him in a plot to get Wyoming to secede from the union, by force if necessary. The novels were much better when Nate was a peripheral character and did not appear in every story but lately we can’t get rid of him. Also, it seems that readers will be getting more of Geronimo Jones who is helping Nate with his business…yay?I remember reading an article about how some people spontaneously combust," Tibbs said. "Do you believe something like that can actually happen? You’re walking along minding your own business and then ‘ poof,’ you realize you’re on fire?" The writing is fluid and descriptive which helps readers envision the scenes without disrupting or slowing the flow. However, a few of the scenes are somewhat graphic. Despite Nate’s part of the story having a lot of suspense and action, it seemed to detract from the main story line for me. There was a strong sense of place causing me to feel as though I was living the events alongside the characters. The final action scene is somewhat over-the-top. Themes include violence, murder, theft, assault, Germany in 1937 and later, and much more. Can’t you just stay home and mind your own business?” Tibbs asked with sudden heat. “Every time you go out, you create another goddamn headache for me and my department.” I felt the same enjoyment that all the prior novels have brought me. Unfortunately, it wasn't at the previous levels.

Do you know who the victim is?" Tibbs asked. "Is he local? You know a hell of a lot more people around here than I do." The name of the ranch had nothing to do with the ownership or history of the place. "Crazy Z-Bar" was just a description of the brand used on its cattle: the letter Z tilted forty-five degrees to the left over a single line. He wished old Lorne Trumley would replace the ancient wire gate and install a cattle guard at the entrance to his place. It was unlikely, though. Lorne was in his eighties, and like a lot of longtime local ranchers, he only fixed things for good after they'd been repaired so many times there was nothing left of them. And the three-strand gate still worked, sort of.

That was the right decision," Tibbs said. "I know you have a reputation for inserting yourself into sheriff's department business where a game warden doesn't belong." She learns that during World War II several Wyoming soldiers were in the group that fought to Hitler's Eagles Nest retreat in the Alps - and one of them took Hitler's personal photo album. Did another take this one and keep it all these years? When she finds the name of a deceased local man who was likely in the unit, Joe visits the man's son - only to find him brutally tortured and murdered. Someone is after the photo album - but why? And when a close neighbor is murdered, Joe and Marybeth face a new question: How will they figure out the book's mystery before someone hurts them...or their girls?

C. J. Box has served up three good stories for the price of one. What a bargain – and what a good reading experience as well.” Line twist: Casting, retrieving and using the freespool and clutch adds twist to your line, which can weaken it and reduces casting distance. In extreme cases, the line will bounce off the spool and ball up as it untwists. More expensive reels incorporate various technologies to minimise line twists. Although he had the business about the moose to take care of first, Joe looked forward to seeing all of his girls together in their house for Thanksgiving. It would be strange, since the family had their history and memories in another state-owned home that had been burned to the ground and not at the newer, much nicer residence on the bank of the Twelve Sleep River. It was unfair to his girls, he thought, that there were now more rooms and more space than there'd ever been when the three of them were growing up.JB: That is definitely the plan, we want it to feel authentic, it’s essential really, if you want the readers to join you on the ride, you have to draw them in and convince them the journey is worth taking. JB: First off, I don’t consider my work on Hope to be ‘photo-realistic,’ that’s a term for art that tries to emulate or reproduce a photographic feel. My art is far from that, the line work is too loose and stylised to be considered photo-real. My objective is to create a kind of naturalistic authenticity. In a series that has, thus far, been confined to just Mallory Hope and his investigations, the second episode sees you getting into something far, far bigger – the nuclear threat, the coven, the President’s arrival… all very big ideas that we’re going to see, no doubt, developed in future episodes. We have Alice and her fellow coven-mates getting together and the most powerful man in the world quaking in his boots – what manner of things are you setting up here? And just how will poor Mallory Hope get involved? I liked both storylines for Nate and Joe, but some details surprised me - and not in a good way. I was hoping for exciting changes because of the conclusion of the last book. At least, this time, Joe can't be held responsible for bringing trouble home......that was an interesting twist.
