About this deal

To begin, Heller's use of the forest fire is a brilliantly simple engine for this story. No matter what else is going on, there is always that creeping danger from behind. Like Jason in the original Friday the 13th, unseen but ever-present, the ominous scent of smoke in the air infuses everything with dread. Dylan Childress, a former actor turned aviation company owner, finds himself at a crossroads in his life. As his business slows down in Montana, he contemplates returning to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. However, during a weekend trip with friends, his priorities shift when he encounters a stranded woman and her twin boys on the side of the road. Engaging in gardening and cooking with Jillian’s heirloom vegetables brings Kelly joy, but the small-town atmosphere of Virgin River feels vastly different from bustling San Francisco. However, her perspective changes when she encounters Lief Holbrook, a ruggedly handsome widower who doesn’t fit the mold of a sophisticated screenwriter. Despite his appealing nature, Lief comes with a challenging stepdaughter named Courtney. Courtney’s rebellious behavior has caused their move from Los Angeles, and she continues to stir up trouble in Virgin River. When Jillian discovers Colin painting in her yard, this chance meeting sparks an immediate connection between them. In the tranquil surroundings of Virgin River, where love often thrives, they find that sometimes the simplest choice can lead to profound happiness. Virgin River Book 15: Harvest Moon (2011) However, when she encounters Aiden Riordan, a rugged man with a shaggy beard and worn-out fatigues, her initial assumptions are challenged. Unbeknownst to Erin, Aiden is actually a doctor taking a break from the navy to recharge for the summer. Despite being intrigued by Erin, her apparent snootiness and her dedication to activities like meditation and journaling keep Aiden at a distance. He desires a closer connection, but his disheveled appearance and complicated past with an ex-wife may hinder his progress.

However, an unexpected accident prolongs Becca’s stay in Virgin River, leaving her stranded in close proximity to Denny. As the magic of Christmas fills the town, Becca witnesses the transformation of the boy she once loved into a strong and confident man. The closeness they experience during this time becomes the most precious Christmas gift Becca could have imagined. As the townspeople gather for the festivities, these two individuals, both seeking solace for their wounded hearts, recognise a potential remedy in each other’s company. Amidst the joyous atmosphere, they take a chance on finding comfort and connection on this special night. Virgin River Book 13: Promise Canyon (2011) they didn’t say a word but the silence of it and the way it seemed to breathe scared them to the bone. The prevailing wind would push the blaze right to them.” False-colour satellite image of the confluence of the silt-laden Solimões River (bottom) with the clear Negro River (top). The city of Manaus is visible on the northern (upper) bank. (more)Ian is uncertain about the persistent presence of the determined young widow who compels him to confront his painful past and uncertain future. Nevertheless, in this season of miracles, perhaps it’s time for Ian to let go of his ghosts and open his heart to the possibility of love. Virgin River Book 5: Second Chance Pass (2009) Sean has undergone personal growth and yearns to settle down, contrary to his previous stance. He believes they should give their relationship another try, recognising their shared history. But there’s more to their connection than just their past. Lots of potential, but it was simply boring, and the ending (about 85 % when it actually gets interesting) is so abrupt I almost threw my kindle in the nearest river.

Connor Danson finds himself uprooted from Sacramento after inadvertently witnessing a violent crime. With the trial looming, he seeks refuge in the quiet mountain town of Virgin River, carrying emotional burdens and a guarded demeanor.

I came to know and care about these boys and wanted the story to end well, despite the odds. I loved that the book focused on a healthy male friendship, something we don’t often see in books.

At twenty-five, Shelby desires freedom and adventure after devoting five years to caring for her mother. She yearns for travel, education, and a romantic relationship. Unexpectedly, during her visit to Virgin River, she crosses paths with Luke Riordan, who is far from the ideal partner she imagined. However, a wildfire changes the tone of their trip, adding a sense of unease that intensifies when, after hearing a couple arguing, they attempt to warn them of the fire, but can’t seem to locate them in the fog. The next day they encounter a man paddling alone on the river, who claims his wife has gone missing. Paul Haggerty lives by the marine code of Semper Fi, remaining loyal to his best friend. He has done his best to support Matt’s widow, despite secretly harboring feelings for her over the years. Just as he is ready to make his move, another woman asserts her claim on him, making it challenging for him to break free. The story of two college friends on a wilderness canoe trip—of a friendship tested by fire, white water, and violence The plotline felt secondary, and that’s just ridiculous when you have a potential murderer, two crazy characters who could star in the film Deliverance, and a forest fire of epic proportions on your tail.
