About this deal

The next three versions toned down the medial post, making them more comfortable and this broadened the target market. The firm ride still remained. However, the Zoom Structures were average, at best. Yes, I was able to log my miles, but the sole unit was too firm and the upper too washy. When I tested the Structure 23 last year, I was astonished how different it was to previous Structures which were firm and stiff. The 23 felt much more cushioned and much more flexible; I liked the new direction that the Structure had gone in. It was a Nike classic, reimagined. The easiest way to tell the difference between the Structure 23 and 24 is the engineered mesh used. It no longer has small perforations on the midfoot and on top of the toe box. Instead, the mesh is smooth so it feels more streamlined. They still give that support, but the comfort quotient just gets better and better. The performance of these shoes and the fact that Nike develops all their foams in the house has me believing in Nike again. Upper - no one does it better than Nike

On the midfoot, the light green “Cucumber” coloured material can be seen through the large perforations. If you were looking forward to a similar shoe to the Structure 22, you will be bitterly disappointed in the new Structure 23. I assumed that the shoe would soften and return more energy as it broke in. However, this was not something I noticed, and instead the double digit runs I did in these left my feet and legs feeling more tired. The Zoom Air bag in the forefoot of the Structure 23 is similar to the setup in the Pegasus 33/34 where you could feel the air bag through the strobel lining and the insole. The Structure 19 and the Structures before the 19 had prominent medial posts and a “poking in the arch” sensation which made it unbearable for many neutral runners and even some overpronators to wear. I stopped and retie my shoes thinking it was the laces being loose. I took off again but the heel was still loose and my midfoot hurt because the shoes were tied too tight. It took 1.5 to 2 miles on each run before I began to feel comfortable. It almost felt as if the sole unit never truly broke in, as my feet had to adjust to the shoe on every run.. The whole shoe was stiff, but especially the sole. If the heel were lower to the ground, giving a more grounded feel and platform, it would help provide more support and stability. This feeling of unbalance became more evident the longer I ran. Allow me to counter-balance the previous opinions on these. Well, everybody’s foot is different obviously but the 22’s work just fine for me.

During gait analysis you will be asked to walk and run on our in-store treadmill whilst your movements are recorded using the latest Daftfish software. A slow-motion, detailed analysis will show and explain your biomechanics, specifically looking at pronation, the inward-turning movement that occurs when your foot touches the ground. During walking and running this acts as cushioning for the body. It’s very important to know your running gait so that we can advise and fit the correct shoes according to your own individual requirements. Can’t get into store? Try a wet foot testThe structure uses a multi-thread that gives grip but still lets you rip. The treads don’t have aggressive lugs that get in the way of the road. Remember when Nike led us to believe that the Structure was being discontinued because they compared the React Infinity Run to it and said that the React Infinity Run caused runners fewer injuries than the Structure 22? Everyone’s gait is slightly different, but there are four main types of running styles and pronation: It has only been launched in a very small number of markets in Asia and Nike has chosen to not name the foam that its midsole is made of or give its standard size weight. The Nike Structure has never been a soft shoe. It was the firm midsole that gave it its highly stable ride.

Partial bootie wraps the foot for a snug, comfortable fit. Notches at the tongue provide easy on and off. The Structure 23 is such a vastly different shoe from previous structures that if you were to remove the name badge from the shoe, you’d think it was a brand new shoe. On the positive side, the Zoom Structure was a very visually appealing shoe. It has more of a casual, everyday look to it and is filled with bright and vibrant colors. Nike certainly knows how to design an eye catching shoe. Those models run anywhere from 110 to 130, while the Zoom Structure are right in the middle with a price tag of 120. There are also no longer reflective strips on the sides of the toe box like on the 23, but there are still reflective strips on the sides of the heel counter. You get thin reflective strips on both sides of the heel and a single strip on the medial side of the toe box for night-time visibility. The highly flexible forefoot results in less snappy, more relaxed ride transitions. The Structure 23 flexes behind the airbag, towards the middle of the sole. When I slipped them on for the first time I was surprised by how firm they felt. The upper – recently updated on this model – felt plush with plenty of room for my foot to move.

The result is a more consistent ride than the Pegasus and Vomero because CMP 010 foam surrounds the airbag in the forefoot whereas the forefoot of the Pegasus/Vomero feels much firmer than the rearfoot so the ride feels inconsistent. A lot of runners stay away from “stability” shoes because it usually means firm, heavy and “poking arch” sensation. There’s a good reason that true stability shoes are a dying breed. The following size chart is a guide to Nike clothing and footwear sizes with a comparison to European and US sizes. If you loved the Lunarglide series, the Structure 23 also has shades of the Lunarglide (8 & 9) although the Structure 23 is much more cushioned and has a lot more outsole rubber.

The Structure 24’s upper is reminiscent of one found on a max-cushioned trainer and is on par with the Vomero 16 in terms of comfort. I feel that the padding is slightly excessive and that a lot of weight could be shed if it was more minimal. However, the upper is a disappointment because the other elements of this shoe made the flywire ineffective. Nike Zoom Structure 22 Conclusions When you have a classic like the Structure which has been around for 22 versions, it would be silly to just kill off the name and forget it ever existed. As a stability runner the structure provided by the upper helps hold your foot in place while you stride, and this is important.
