About this deal

I like special well Dorothy Colly. I pray you be good unto her. I would wot whether this be she that you wrote me of. If not, yet I pray you be good to the other as you may in her affliction, and to my good daughter Jane Aleyn too. Give her, I pray you, some kind answer, for she sued hitherto me this day to pray you be good to her. I hope you got a good look at me too. Our eyes met when they brought you to me in your little isolette, but it still felt too far away. I hope you got to see me because I want you to know that it was me that had been dreaming of you for a very long time, it was me that played ballerina music for you, and it was me that constantly woke you up inside of me, just to feel you move.

Please, Lord, comfort her in her time of grief and feeling loss. Bring comfort to her wounded heart, and let your love and presence bring her peace. Thinking of you is a cheerful and tragic part of my life. I spent days crying, laughing, and other emotions I cannot even figure out. Your death is one strange thing — one moment I cry whenever I remember that I’ll never be able to see you or hug you anymore, and the next I laugh due to the funny moments we shared. Coping with pain after losing a daughter may be somewhat easier if you can truly believe that your daughter has become an angel who is actively present in your life when you need her. 18. “As a mother, I thought it was my job to teach you how to be a strong and gracious person. Instead, you taught me those lessons. Thank you daughter, and Happy Birthday.” I don’t think it will ever completely dissolve, this missing you thing. But as long as my own breath carries on, I’ll keep your memory alive.

To the Woman Longing to Become a Mother

Letter to My Daughter sets up its metaphorical base with a quotation from the opening stanza of The Eve of St Agnes. In Keats’s poem, the atmosphere of intense cold summoned at the start is mainly physical, and seems designed to give all the more emphasis to the rich romantic glow of the love feast later enjoyed by Madeline and Porphyro. The wintry chill symbolises old age, sexual barrenness and death, of course, but it doesn’t have the particular metaphorical dimension Palmer’s poem insists on – a “frozen ground” where the language of human connection fails. Palmer still draws on Keats’s descriptive powers, confident, I think, of his readers’ shared memories of the classic poem. The first verse here reminds us about the sheer linguistic magic of Keats, in fact recreates some of that magic as it makes us hear and see “the animal moving / through the vowels, / the consonants that stand / as frosted blades, or emptied trees”. You are my guide and my teacher and you have made me a better person. While not a day that goes by without some pain and sadness, you have have taught me more than I ever thought possible. Oh and the signs I send!!!! Yeah, we are limitless when it comes to sending you signs from Heaven. So, any time that you see something that catches your eye and reminds you of me, please know it is my way of letting you know I am there at your side from Heaven. Let go of your self doubt when you see my signs because it is really easy for your self doubt to tell you it wasn’t from me, but I promise it was. I know, sometimes your grief is so so so so deep that you don’t see my signs that I am sending you and that is okay. Grief clouds your ability to see the beauty in this world and that is really normal, so, don’t you worry, because I will just keep sending signs from Heaven until you can see them. If there is a break between my signs, it doesn’t mean that I am not there, it just means that I am giving you a little space to spread your wings as you grow through your grief, but I promise I haven’t left you.

Could it be you Baby making all this wonders happen? Could it be you telling the wise ageless woman with hair the colour of cassava about me and my dreams? Is that why you were in a rush to go, so you could start fixing things for mamma, is it? Pretty please tell, is it, my baby Emilia? I feel your presence especially when i am walking up the stairs to the house , when the neighbors dog doesn't bark at me, i feel you commanded them not to bark, eh my small protector. When i am left alone … i cry a lot, thinking about you, even though i don’t let myself linger long for fear of revisiting the last memories which are hunting my spirit infected with so much guilt. This is a simple but heartfelt message that might summarize how all members of your family feel on the birthday of a daughter who has passed on. 14. “Happy Birthday to our precious daughter. Although we miss you, we find peace in the belief that you are in Heaven. That means you are always with us.” Because of you, I learned that love is a precious gift. I now try to love everyone and everything, just like you did.Yesterday Kim’s mama made us gather around and listen for over an hour how her daughter graduated college with honors although she had mononucleosis for two semesters. I entrust her well-being and self-confidence into your hands, Lord, knowing that you have a wonderful plan for her life. May she find comfort in Your ability, God, to reach her, hold her and rescue her ( 2 Samuel 22:17-18). Death and the afterlife are common preoccupations for older adults. These don’t need to be morbid preoccupations, though. A grandparent whose granddaughter is no longer alive might actually take some comfort in the belief that they will soon reunite with their lost loved one. 20. “I’ve lived a long time. In all those years, the happiest experience of my life was when I first heard you call me Grandma/Grandpa. Happy Birthday, and thank you for that wonderful gift.”
