High fan speeds often come with noise, but that’s a trap that the VonHaus 35″ Tower Fan avoids. At 53.9dB on maximum, this fan is pretty quiet for the fan speed; however, at minimum, the fan is still 53.1dB, which is a little loud for sleeping with. The Honeywell Turbo Force Power Fan is basic in all senses of the word, however, that's also part of its appeal. There's no self-assembly to do, and no faffing with bloated control options, its manual control button couldn't be simpler to adjust, even if it feels a bit cheap.
I would have liked the Vortex to be a bit taller (it’s 85.6cm compared to the Dyson at 100.7cm), as it think this would help keep you cool with tasks such as reading in bed, but it certainly isn’t a problem when you’re lying down. Fully smart, the Wave 2 can be controlled via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which makes it exceptionally easy to set up and control; there are onboard controls if you prefer. As previously mentioned, fans with a lot of speed settings (over 10, for example) will allow more choice when it comes to noise. You may be able to have the fan on slightly stronger, whilst keeping the noise level down. If a fan has only three speed settings, the leap between each option will be more noticeable – you may find only the lowest option is sufficiently quiet. What I also really appreciated about this model is the air purifier. My wife suffers from hayfever during the summer, and this feature really helps negate the issue at night. We found the heat mode to be reliable, too. This fan can help push a cold room into a comfortable space, and the thermostat helps cut down on electricity bills, as the heater will turn off automatically when the right temperature has been reached.We tested this combination fan heater at home for over six months in a drafty living room and an enclosed porch. We also found it to be a great size to bring to the office for personal use by our desk. We loved how lightweight it was to move, and found the handle made it very easy to lift. The only issue we found is that heat only came out of the right side of the unit, and since it does not have an oscillation setting either, we had to move the heater around to get the right amount of heat distribution. However, we have no other complaints about this great little unit.
