About this deal

Once you have spread the product over each piece of trim, gently wipe away residue immediately with an MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth. If your car has heavily textured trim take time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed from them Using a heat gun to heat up the trim can bring out the oils in the plastic. However, all plastics are different and only so much oil can be taken from the plastic. It would also be best to test on a hidden piece of plastic before you attempt visible areas. Before starting ensure you have enough product for all intended trim surfaces. E.g For a Mini (30ml) you will require more product compared to a Golf (15ml) The final option would be to simply paint the plastic trim. The plastic may be past restoring and this would be a permanent fix. Alternatively, you could plasti dip the plastic trim or even use automotive vinyl wrap to cover up any defects.

Gtechniq C4 is not just your regular trim coating, it will bond to your trim restoring it to like new condition with ease! Most trim restorers or protectants are shiny coatings that sit on top of the plastic and they only provide temporary shine and color restoration. C4 actually swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car’s trim! This allows the C4 to keep your trim looking brand new for up to two years! Use C4 on trim, weather stripping, plastic mirrors, battery covers, hoses, etc. If you are looking to restore your trim to like new condition grab a bottle of the C4 Permanent Trim Restorer today! Stay out of the sun:The sun's UV rays is exactly what causes car plastic trim to fade. Don't apply the trim restorer products in the sun. For this we recommend cleaning trim vigorously with a 1:10 dilution of Gtechniq W2 Universal Cleaner Once you have spread the product over each piece of trim, gently wipe away residue immediately with a Microfibre Buff Cloth. If your car has heavily textured trim take time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed. Instead, quality plastic restorers will be absorbed by the plastic and break down the oxidation that causes the lightened and ashy appearance. They will nourish the plastic and last a good amount of time, at least several months. They will also provide an even finish, like that of new plastic. If you want as permanent of a solution as you can get then you’ll need to consider painting your plastic trim. This works great on non load bearing surfaces (trim you’ll step on or set things on) like wiper cowls, bumpers, wheel well arches, etc… The unfortunate reality is that plastic restorers are not permanent fixes. They will fade over time and will degrade fast in rainy environments. You can slow this process down by using a plastic sealant or protectant. The first is how well the surface is prepped before applying it. If the trim has not been well prepared, then this will have an impact on how well the C4 adheres to and makes a bond with the trim. The other factor is the condition of the trim before the C4 was applied. The fact that it’s lasted over a year longer than advertised is a huge bonus. In short, cheap plastic restorers aren’t worth your time or money. What Will Plastic Restores NOT do?

Once you have spread the product onto a single piece of trim, immediately remove excess product using a Gtechniq Microfibre Cloth The best feature of the Gtechniq C4 is the fact that it permanently restores plastic trim for up to 2 years, which is far longer than the alternatives. Gtechniq C4 is a for raw plastics. It bonds to plastics at a nano level and actually joins in with the "dna" of plastic, molecularly altering it, darkening and glossing ... and protecting ... and all this is reputed to actually last! As with any detailing regimen, the proper preparation is key when it comes to C4. It is recommended that it is left to cure for at least 12 hours without the trim becoming wet. This may pose an issue for some, and I have heard that those that did get it wet whilst it was still curing and the results were a bit patchy. If it is the case that you cannot be guaranteed to keep the trim dry, then I would recommend that you do not use C4 until such times as you can guarantee this. It’s an all-in-one formula that has been used by professionals for many years and has the added bonus of being suitable for exterior trim of all colors.

The rear bumper guards also were in poor condition and needed some attention. These were cleaned just like all the other trim pieces before applying the coating.

Suitable for use on the trim found on bumpers, windows, wing mirrors, doors, mud-flaps, engine bays etcOnce you’ve applied a plastic trim restorer, you would expect the finish to be long lasting. Although there is no truly permanent fix, many premium options can last up to 2 years or longer. Although the longer lasting restorers are more expensive, they will reduce the amount of applications required per year. The above image is what we started with. The plastics were grey, they were faded and they looked horrid. The sun’s UV is a relentless bitch when it comes to the trim of cars from Malaysia, apparently. The most trusted and best method to restore faded car plastic is to use “off the shelf” detailing products such as the products listed above. Work in a well-ventilated area, at a temperature above 5 degrees Celcius and out of direct sunlight. Wear the gloves provided
