About this deal

Designed to meet the ergonomic, performance, and durability needs of landscape maintenance professionals. The M12 is also quite a bit heavier, but when you see it in the videos below, you’ll understand why – it’s bigger!

There’s a variable speed trigger to control your cutting speed up to 984 fpm. Practically, it’s not only much faster than a hand saw, but it’s also much less fatiguing. Everything was simple to use. The saw did NOT come with the oil it requires. But the battery charged in less than a day, so by the time I got some oil it was ready to go. The oil reservoir level is easy to see as is the battery power level. And they say the saw won't work if the battery charge isn't sufficient, so you wont get a slow moving chain. I'm not familiar with how much oil a chain saw should use or have remaining on it's blade but this doesn't look any different than the HomeLite saw it's replacing. And of course I haven't messed with the chain itself but the nut wrench is stored out of the way on the saw and the directions appear simple to follow. It has a 6″ blade, making it a bit bigger than most of the best mini chainsaws that tend to only have 4″ bars. One of my mini saws also has a 6″ bar, and I must say it is nice to have the extra length from time to time (I can swap the 4″ and 6″ around). If you’re used to gas saws for pruning and light limbing, one nice trait of switching to battery power is that the chain spins up right away. You don’t have that slight delay of the engine as fuel makes its way through. Runtime It’s one of the most heavy-duty handheld saws, if not THE most heavy-duty model. It’s well built, looks great, is reliable and durable, and gets the job done.

All in all, the M12 Hatchet is a good mini chainsaw that can make pruning around the home much easier and faster. It’s great for the small stuff, and shouldn’t be used as your primary firewood saw (though I’m sure that goes without saying)! Designed to meet the ergonomic, performance, and durability needs of landscape maintenance professionals This saw is fabulous! It makes cutting such a simple pleasure. It's called a Pruning saw but does far more than that. No more hand saws or SawsAll for larger branches or wood. Beats the hell out of the larger corded Homelite electric chain saw I have. There's no contest. Then there’s the action of each saw. Reciprocating saws have much more vibration than chainsaws, and the Hatchet is a far more comfortable tool to use for pruning. The unboxing and setup happen at about the 5-minute mark after a rundown of all the specs and features.

Weighing 2.3 kg and featuring a compact design, the cordless pruning saw gives you increased control and manoeuvrability in tight access areas
