About this deal

Despite its numerous features, the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro remains user-friendly and easy to handle, further boosted by the convenient EcoFlow app for remote monitoring and control. The design ensures all controls and ports are easily accessible and conform to standard formats, making it straightforward to plug in and operate various equipment. You may have noticed that to get any AC or DC power out of the River 2, you have to follow a two stage process. First, turn on the main device using the central on-off switch and then secondly turn on the DC or AC using the independent isolation switches for each. This is not the end of the world, but can feel a bit of a faff when you’re in a hurry. The reason for this is to conserve power and stop unnecessary phantom voltages from draining the battery. The RIVER 2 Max has an AC output of 500W (1000W starting watts with x-boost). That means the highest wattage appliance it can run is 500W with a maximum starting wattage of 1000W. The RIVER 2 Max can also operate several devices simultaneously as long as their total wattage doesn’t exceed 500 running Watts. If any of your devices have a higher starting wattage, you’ll also need to factor that in. RIVER 2 provides up to 600W starting watts (surge power) using X-Boost mode. Can You Run RIVER 2 and Charge It at the Same Time? To be safe, allot five to six hours for your RIVER 2 to charge fully using the USB-C input. Is RIVER 2 Expandable?

Need Expert Advice on the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro + EcoFlow 220W Solar Panel?

Temperature affects solar panel efficiency, while factors like the peak sun hours your solar panel receives and its positioning impact how much electricity you generate in real-world conditions. Finally, both the RIVER 2 Max and RIVER 2 Pro can operate and recharge simultaneously. Solar Charge Capacity However, you can use two RIVER 2s simultaneously but separately. For example, use one to power your lighting while the other powers your box fan. The inverter on board has a 300W nominal capability, and the ability to surge at up to twice that (600W). Surging means using more power on a very short term basis of a few seconds. This is to turn on devices which require a high peak power at startup.

If you want to take your PPS camping, the RIVER 2 Max and Pro are each outstanding options for portable off-grid power. Where the standard River 2 is less good is when you want to run higher power appliances for longer periods of time. In those cases, you may choose to look at the higher power variants – the River 2 Max (512Wh / 500W) or the River 2 Pro (768Wh / 800W). If these still don’t have enough power then you will need to switch to the Delta 2 range. We prefer the higher power Delta 2 for our campervan, but it is obviously more expensive. Can you Use the River 2 While it’s charging? With four versatile charging options, we've made sure you can charge RIVER 2 Pro pretty much anywhere you are. Charge using an AC outlet for ultra-fast 70 minute charging, charge on the go with car charging, and go off-grid or green with fast solar charging. RIVER 2 Pro has an all-new charging option, USB-C. Plug in and conveniently charge anywhere that has an outlet. However, just because the RIVER 2 is among the most durable portable power stations on the market doesn’t mean you should drop it in the ocean. For one thing, RIVER 2 has multiple AC, DC, USB-A, and USB-C ports so that you can charge all your devices at once.

With over 3000+ battery 100% cycles, you can use RIVER 2 Pro almost every day for pretty much ten years. LFP battery chemistry doesn't just offer long life. It's more reliable, efficient and safe even in high temperatures. RIVER 2 Pro has one of the longest warranties in the industry, so we've got you protected for the next 5 years. It’s essential to keep in mind, though, that a solar panel rarely produces its rated power output in the real world. This is due to numerous factors outlined in the posts linked above. A good rule of thumb for estimating average electricity output is to assume your panel will produce 75% of its rated power during peak sunlight hours. The River 2 is an updated version of the original EcoFlow River, and the main change is the adoption of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cells as the battery technology. This brings us neatly to the EcoFlow River 2 which is the entry-level model in their range, boasting a 300W output power inverter and 256Wh of storage capacity on board. These are not big numbers, but then again this is a relatively inexpensive product to buy, so it’s ‘horses for courses’ as we said at the outset – you get what you pay for! However, EcoFlow portable power stations don’t support 0ms switching. For most electronics, a 30-ms interruption in power is negligible. You may not even notice it. However, there IS an interruption — unlike with a UPS. The RIVER 2 Max and Pro each offer four charging options, enabling you to go from 0-100% electricity storage capacity pretty much anywhere — fast!

It has excellent charge speed compared with the competition (around 5x faster on mains input), a great display which accurately shows time remaining and percentage capacity remaining. We like the USB-C charging as well as the general ergonomics such as the colour and carry handle. River 2 Max takes just an hour to recharge fully using AC electricity. The Pro takes 70 minutes with AC, but can take longer to charge with solar panels than the Max. Both RIVER 2 Max and Pro offer 220W of solar charging input, but the Pro offers more storage capacity, so it takes longer to charge from 0-100%. Even if your appliance has an operating wattage of 300W, RIVER 2 could only run that one appliance. And, due to the battery storage capacity of 256Wh, RIVER 2 can’t even run your 300W device for an hour (watt-hours and kilowatt-hours measure electricity consumed over time).

Control at your fingertips.

At that price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a competing product that offers the same level of build quality, performance, and features. That makes it easy to recommend to anyone who needs — or just wants — a power station. The RIVER 2 series represents the latest improvements in EcoFlow’s innovative portable power stations (PPS). A substantial upgrade on the original RIVER collection, the RIVER 2 series includes the RIVER 2 Max and RIVER 2 Pro.
