In 1956, during the Suez Canal Conflict between Israel and Egypt, my mother and her family fled Egypt as secular Jewish refugees. I was born nine years later, in May 1965. In July 1984, I enrolled in the class of 1988 at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), and in November 1986, I received Jesus as my Savior and LORD. When I received Jesus, I was a second-class cadet (junior) at USAFA. Although my experiences at the academy had rarely been what I would call "good," USAFA proved to be the cauldron of affliction from which God would give me the perseverance and strength to proceed with this work. As a born-again Levite or "Jew," I soon realized that my calling in life had little to do with serving in the United States military. My life had been turned upside down.L8  *97
