Description

We loathe discomfort because it indicates we are taking on some sort of risk. It’s a biological response hardwired into our brains from a time when the world around us was fraught with peril at every moment. You are a space for life to happen, a wild and wondrous environment for miracles and hardships and everything in between. You are a moment, a loud bang in a burst of time that trails to a whisper and then disappears into the abyss.”

The simple truth is this… I get results. And I’ll teach you everything you need to know, so you can maintain those results. So answer me this.If you want to win, you have to be willing to be let others judge you. I am not my thoughts; I am what I do You are not your thoughts. You are your actions. You are what you do. And your actions are the only thing separating you from where you are and where you want to be." In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” -Teddy Roosevelt. Bishop says our brains are wired to win, and so we naturally and subconsciously act in ways that support our view of ourselves, even if that view is negative or harmful. Doing so keeps our psyche comfortable because it reinforces what we have experienced in our past that got us to the current day alive. Even if we want more out of life than what we are getting.

Bishop shares this thought from Dale Carnegie: “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” In summary One of my biggest gripes with this text is that Gary seems to contradict himself throughout it and complicates his overall message. He is adamant that this is not another self-help book that focuses on positive thinking; however, it is one of the first concepts he introduces. In sum, he teaches that assertive language affects emotions, feelings, and ultimately decision making and that one should engage in healthy inner dialogue. He also later bashes the quote, "Change your thoughts, change your life," calling it bullsh*t. Where he is attempting to go with this is to say that actions speak louder than words and no matter what you think, unless you take action, your life will not change. A majority of the prompts were unnecessary for me because I answered them through an earlier one. Most of the sections were totally irrelevant to me at this stage of my life. They might have been helpful at an earlier stage of my life though. PDF / EPUB File Name: Unfu_k_Yourself__Get_out_of_your_head_and_-_Gary_John_Bishop.pdf, Unfu_k_Yourself__Get_out_of_your_head_and_-_Gary_John_Bishop.epub Filled with entirely new material, including personalized prompts and exercises with ample lined space to journal and process, Do the Work expands the lessons in Unfu*k Yourself, giving you the tools to intentionally commit to taking on your life. Our subconscious is responsible for 95% of our thoughts and implicitly, of what we do every day. Put it this way: controlling your subconscious allows you to shape a big part of what is going on throughout your day and train your mind to attract specific things. Another fascinating aspect Bishop highlights: When we take on challenges, and when we push ourselves in new directions, it’s not only challenging for us – it also challenges those around us. Even those who love us. Here, you will mostly learn about yourself. What triggers you. What triggers you to get angry, procrastinate, to hate that person, or to do that thing you hate but can't stop.
