Mark’s first wife Mia died in a tragic accident which has left him in a dark place but Evie seems to be bringing him out of himself. However Cleo doesn’t trust her and when Evie starts having strange accidents, Cleo cannot work out what is going on. And So It Begins is a brilliant psychological thriller. If you are looking for lies, secrets, revenge and more twists than you can keep up with, then you are in for a treat. This book is bloody brilliant! I have read and enjoyed all of this author's books so was delighted to have an opportunity to read this as an arc. Rachel Abbott is definitely the queen of domestic noir!

He insisted that she submit to an Inquisitor, in a process that could kill her if she was indeed the wrong person. Delenn agreed, survived the process, and was endorsed by the Inquisitor. [20] Revealed to All [ ] As the novel progresses we see things from Evie’s view and also from Cleo’s. Is Evie a battered wife or is there something else going on? Does Mark have a violent side or is it all an elaborate plot on Evie’s part? Mark and Evie had a whirlwind romance, much to his controlling sister Cloe’s disgust. Evie has made Mark live again after the death of his wife from a tragic accident. It is impossible to work out what is going on as Rachel Abbott is very careful not to reveal too much and this certainly keeps the reader on their toes.
