About this deal

Night Train to Marrakech is the 3rd and final in the Daughters of War trilogy by Dinah Jefferies and I loved it! Fast paced, filled with tension, set in a place of beauty in the 1960s, it brings the lives of the sisters, Florence, Elise and Helene, who I first met in France, 1944, together again. An outstanding read by an author I admire greatly. Highly recommended. The same goes for Gare Tanger Ville. The station is in a nice area away from the medina, and the interior looks more like it belongs in Abu Dhabi than Morocco. A mouthwatering read, intense and emotional. I loved it. Its characters hooked me irresistibly and stole my heart . . . a wonderful, heart-wrenching tale of love, danger and bone-chilling secrets’ KATE FURNIVALL The seductive colours, sights, sounds and aromas of Marrakech, with a hidden, darker side, are so powerfully evoked that you are instantly transported there' LIZ TRENOW A few weeks ago I was given the chance to read Night Train to Marrakech by Dinah Jefferies. This is the final book in the sweeping historical series from the No.1 Sunday Times bestselling author, Dinah Jefferies. It follows The Daughters of War and The Hidden Palace which I have previously read and reviewed.

For The Budget Conscious: Dar Borj is a cozy family-run Dar located in the medina and a few minutes walk from The Blue Gate. With an unbelievable rooftop terrace, enjoy some mint tea and watch the sunset over the media. The author has obviously done a lot of research about this setting and this made the book all the more interesting as it was a period and place I knew little about I didn’t realise that this was the third part of a trilogy. I had read the first of the three novels but not the second in the series but this did not affect my enjoyment. It’s a good stand alone novel.

Dinah Jefferies wields her storytelling magic on the island of Malta . . . It's engrossing and sensual, full of the heat of the Mediterranean sun' GILL PAULIf you like the idea of leaving when you want, stopping when you want, and sharing a ride only with your significant other, family, or friends, consider booking a private transfer from Marrakech to Fes. For Something In Between: Riad Fes Al Cazar Suite & Spa is a beautiful riad that is situated in the historic old town of Fes. Featuring a swimming pool and friendly staff, Riad Fes Al Cazar is a great choice for travelers. Word to the wise, and whichever train route you plan to book in Morocco when you know the dates you want to travel by train, we recommend booking as soon as you are able! While you’ll have a handful of time slots to choose from on any given day, traveling by train is a popular way to get around Morocco by tourists and locals so timetable slots will definitely sell out. I had understood that although this is No3 in a series, it also works as a stand alone book. Having read it, I'm not convinced. Maybe if I'd read Nos 1-2, I would have given it more stars. This is the third book in a series and although it could be read as a standalone , I heartily suggest that the previous two novels are read first as they serve to give the main characters a lot more depth. Rich in courage, love and sacrifice, but chilling and taut in its portrayal of the horrors of war' KATE FURNIVALL

I have read only one other book by Dinah Jefferies, also via the Pigeonhole platform, and I rated The Tea Planter's Wife at 5 stars. Night trains arrive in Tangier and Marrakech fairly early, around 6 AM or 7 AM, respectively. This is on the early side in Morocco, especially when trains arrive ahead of schedule. Prepare yourself for early-morning haggling with taxi drivers. Night train to Marrakech - how can I book it? (Going Weds!) Night train to Marrakech - how can I book it? (Going Weds!)

On the night train from Marrakech to Tangier, travelers can sleep in a bed and arrive ready to start the day. The train is more expensive, and the sleeper train more expensive still, but some of the cost is offset by not having to pay for a night in a hostel or hotel. Ultimately, the train is the most practical option for travelers with time constraints. Where to Take the Train? From Marrakech, the train heads up along the coast north to Rabat before making a right and heading east towards Fes. You’ll pass through large cities, small towns, and rural countryside. On the day of your departure date to Fes, you’ll need to make your way to the Marrakech Train Station. Built-in 2008, the Marrakech Train Station is located west of the Marrakech Medina, about a 10-15 minute taxi ride. While the train does not stop, you will pass through Casablanca, Rabat, and Meknes. You’ll get a tiny preview of each city as you pass through, but it’s nothing major.
