The really sweet thing about meca-quartz movements, like this one before us, is the smooth sweeping chronograph second hand that sweeps smoothly like a mechanical watch. Even so, I was very impressed. The deep brushed surfaces around the lugs contrast very nicely with the extremely well polished (for the price) bezel and hour markers that really give the watch enough pop and shine, without being overly blingy. Omega is well-known for its incredibly stylish and suave collection of timepieces and it has yet to disappoint in this regard.

The Panda Dial watch certainly has a unique charm to it that captures the attention with its sublime and simple aesthetics. It is also quite an elegant timepiece that also exudes an air of confidence. Interestingly enough, these are traits that we don’t normally attach to the lovable panda. However, one element that panda dial watches do have in common with their namesake is their charming visual design.My favorite affordable panda dial chronograph is currently the Orient Neo70sPanda thanks to its well-executed design and a rather affordable price tag. There isn’t a huge variety of affordable and good-looking panda dial chronographs on a budget, though I’ve written an entire article about them if you want to learn more.

The case also curves neatly toward the edges, hugging the wrist very comfortably and making the watch a joy to wear.

A dark navy alligator strap with cream stitching would emphasize both the navy blue subdials and cream dial perfectly. But you can try something like emerald green, or a dark burgundy if you want to get a little funky. The watch features a mirror-polished PVD bezel with a laser-etched tachymeter to deliver an impressive level of detail. The overall aesthetic also revolves around an ergonomic design, proven by the high level of comfort that the Formulai 891 delivers with its stainless-steel bracelet and the watch itself. As with all Heritage timepieces, this model takes the traditional route with its self-winding automatic movement. The TAG Heuer Heritage features a 42mm polished stainless-steel case and uses a genuine brown calfskin leather strap for that added rugged charm. As for performance, expect top marks as this timepiece uses the brand’s signature Caliber Heuer 02 chronograph movement which has an accuracy rating of 28,800VPH. Great looking watch with a relatively original design, even though it is clearly inspired by many classic chronographs.

The Timewalker was already quite a looker, and now it has that distinct duality charm that panda dial watches enjoy. This is another high-end luxury timepiece that focuses more on delivering a more robust appearance than the typical elegant aesthetics of a luxury watch. Underneath the hood of its efficient dial and case lies a quartz movement that imbues this Bulova panda dial watch with dependability when it comes to timekeeping. I think for anyone with a 6 3/4″ wrist and above, the watch will most likely suit you very well. Or if you have smaller wrists and just prefer larger watches, that’ll be fine too.

It retains some style cues from some iconic watches with hints of Rolex Paul Newman Daytona and Omega Speedmaster to an extent but still manages to implement a completely new take on the style. Oddly placed and recessed date window. The white of the date window contrasting with the creamy dial might also be a turn off for some. It’s also a bit too small. It’s a very well built and well-finished watch, of which, I’d expect nothing less from the Orient brand. The Alpha Daytona, on the other hand, is completely mechanical and runs on a Seagull movement, the same one used in the very classic Seagull 1963 chronograph.My personal preference is a 22mm Milanese Mesh bracelet that I think perfectly emphasizes the vintage styling of the watch. The best budget panda dial chronograph is the Orient Neo 70s Panda, in my opinion. It’ is a lovely watch that has got many hours of wrist time on my own personal wrist. What an honor! A panda dial is a light-colored dial (usually white or silver, cream in this case) with much darker subdials. Most often, it’s chronographs that get referred to as pandas, since they tend to be the watches most commonly seen with multiple smaller subdials. Some chronographs, like the modern-day Rolex Daytona, for instance, have a screw-down crown surrounding the pushers that keep water from entering. These watches are usually water-resistant, but not always. Longines HydroConquest is one of the most impressive dive watches in the market and it manages to compete on the aesthetic side of things fairly well, too.
