Očarí vás ohromujúca ovocná vôňa, ktorá postupne prechádza až do kvetinovej arómy. Po niekoľkých minútach, čo rum necháte chvíľu vydýchnuť ucítite vanilku, kakao a mliečnu čokoládu. Na jazyku sa vám začne rozplývať chuť škorice prekladaná výraznou cukrovou trstinou a maslovým keksíkom, ktorú dopĺňa spomínané kakao a vanilka. Zakončenie je stredne dlhé a iba čiastočne sladké. Rum si udržiava konštantnú kvalitu napriek zvýšenej produkcii a dopytu po ňom. This sweet and velvety rum has notes of tropical fruits, orange marmalade and coconut. A smooth finish of vanilla and creamy caramel. Summary Its time for Bajan rum along with Jamaica and Martinique rums to be recognised as the world standard quality products they are, its a shit fight to get that recognition and people like MF who are making a ton of money from the work of others, whilst pretending to fly the flag of quality are no better than pimps. For the none rummies, there’s been a year’s worth of raging battle for the Barbados Geographical Indicator (GI). On one side you have Mt. Gay, Foursquare and St. Nicholas Abbey who are fighting for the tradition of Barbadian rum. On the other side, you have Ferrand’s WIRD who is pushing for looser standards. This is my opinion alone… and probably the opinion of many other rum geeks. This is too sweet. This “rum” tastes more like a coconut chocolate flavored liqueur. Drinkers with a sweet tooth may give this a high score but this is really not for me.

Láhev se snaží být efektní a reprezentativní, ale při pohledu na ni víte, že je to jen předstírání. Zlatohnědá barva s mírnou hloubkou, ve sklenici základní rum. Ovocná sladká vůně s banánem a meruňkou, květinovými tóny a vanilkou. Velmi sladké a husté v ústech s trochou alkoholu na začátku, karamelem a melasou. Potom následuje několik tónů sudu a kůže, které přetrvávají v dřevitém a suchém závěru. Skromná dochuť se dřevem, rzí a kovem. Plantation XO 20th Anniversary | Rum Ratings

One of the few Plantation rums with an age statement on the label, this might be considered the flagship of Plantation’s “signature blends” lineup, and is one of the brands they’ve been offering longest. The five year age statement is nice, if not particularly impressive—it makes this a “moderately aged” rum. It’s important to note that 3-4 years of that time is tropical aging in Barbados, and the remaining 1-2 years is aging in France in “Ferrand casks” previously used to mature cognac. That’s a significant period, which makes this ultimately a product substantially different than simply a Bajan rum—there’s also the moderate dosage to consider as well. Products like this are at the heart of the dispute between Maison Ferrand and the other Barbados distilleries. I read good review after good review for this rum and I have to say it doesn't live up to my hIgh expectations. It is presented in a squat Scotch-style bottle with a bright and colourful label depicting tropical flowers, birds, and lizards and boldly marked “Isle of Fiji.” On The Nose A bittersweet opening, mid-palate reveals molasses cookie, pineapple, ginger, and vanilla. Becomes a reasonably-rounded rum with soft chocolate and vanilla on the finish. Summary

Bottle at a glance

The rest of the ageing period is performed in ex-cognac “Ferrand casks” in France. This rum provides a kaleidoscope of tasty tropical notes and the aroma of pipe tobacco too! I’ve had a lot of Foursquare rum. They make great rum without needing to rely on aging outside of Barbados and the sweetening. The few Mt. Gay I’ve had were nothing spectacular but they were decent. Still, it’s a lot better than everything being indistinguishable from one another because of all the added sugar.
