About this deal

Based on solution focused practice principles, illustrates communication skills and playful techniques for working with children and young people regardless of health, learning or development needs. Think about what you want from your chat with your child, and then consider how to approach the topic. This worry bag activity is a great one to use with your class to help them think about and discuss their emotions. Stresses the importance of managing conflict respectfully, finding ways of coping with pop culture and supporting the work of fathers in parenting. The author has worked extensively with teenage girls and uses her experiences to show parents how to understand the different cliques and roles girls adopt.

Invite the children to think about who their trusted adults are and who they can talk to if they have a worry – they may want to make a card for their special person or send them a picture of them with their worry monster. For example, if you start in the evening when they're tired, your child or children might not be able to concentrate. Using the Huge Bag of Worries we can use puppets or characters, in this case we used an elf and asked, ‘If the elf had a bag of worries what might be in it? To help your child open up and discuss their emotions, you can start by asking your children how they are feeling; are they angry, sad, happy, scared or worried? You may also want to download Worry Box Transition Activity Pack to provide your students with more strategies to deal with their worries. The story is a great example of how we will all feel sometimes, and it makes it easy to see how worries can build up and affect all areas of our lives, even for grown-ups like parents or teachers. The title and concept reminded me of a huge bag of worries which I am sure we are all familiar with. Now invite the children to take their bubbles and their monster outside and blow away those worries.

In some cases, this may be for a limited period and members should monitor their engagement on this basis. She doesn't feel she can tell anyone but once she opens up the bag and shares the worries with someone else, the worries no longer seem so big.

Explain to your class that our worries sometimes feel like a big monster but by talking and writing them down, they aren't so scary anymore. These pages can help you decide how to approach a conversation, and can provide support for your child after your chat.

I think my favourite part of the story is when the last was getting out all the worries and threw them away and blew kisses to them and everything.A recipe can be found here with good instructions on how to make a bubble wand - https://wredtedart. Helping young people to develop new and alternative coping strategies will help them feel that they can cope with any worry and will help them to build resilience against new worries in the future.
