About this deal

A Clarice Bean lê um livro chamado Ruby Redfort que é uma super espiã, este livro também é legal e se encaixa bem com a história da Clarice. In an increasingly fast paced world, children need the freedom to dream and imagine; to enjoy reading, drawing and telling their own stories without value judgement or restraint”. They engage in imaginary games and outdoor play, rather than being entertained by adults or playing computer games. Perhaps the delight of such books, and the reason they appeal to adults as well as children, is that they bridge the gulf between childhood and adulthood, encouraging adults to identify and embrace their own childlike qualities, while also celebrating those qualities in children.

Utterly Me, Clarice Bean by Lauren Child - Daunt Books Utterly Me, Clarice Bean by Lauren Child - Daunt Books

I think that reading this without the veil of childhood innocence and naivety made me feel like a parent reading to their child, or in my case, my inner child. Nonetheless, her style is unique - her illustrations (like her characters) are quirky, mischievous and multi-faceted, combining bright colours and bold, chunky outlines with photographic collages and ‘cut out’ images. An utterly special 10th anniversary edition beautifully designed in hardback with a full colour cloth binding of the very first Clarice Bean novel complete with stunning slipcase.

Clarice Bean, Utterly Me by Lauren Child | Waterstones

Clarice Bean Series Lauren Child Irrepressible, sassy, quirky (and sometimes frenetic), the endearing, utterly entertaining Clarice Bean is the star of three full-length adventures featuring Lauren Child’s wacky wit and eccentric visual energy. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh books, and Child’s characters and stories in many ways echo Milne’s writing as well as Shepherd’s illustrations. Of the role she said, “I want to inspire children to believe in their own creative potential, to make their own stories and drawings and ignite in them the delight of reading for pleasure. Moving beyond her family but using all her witty powers of observation, Clarice Bean fills her first novel with an account of her life outside home and especially inside school.I enjoyed this book very much as it was a book in 2 it was about Clarie Bean and Ruby Redfort it was humerous, amzing to learn about all the gadgets ruby has and that her toast comes with messages and then can be eaten so there is no evidence. Lauren Child burst on to the children’s books scene in 1999 and has since published many bestselling and awardwinning books, including those featuring the hugely popular Charlie and Lola, and the Clarice Bean series. The result - a juxtaposition of traditional children’s illustrations and contemporary artistic styles - is delightful and captivating for both young and old. Other characters who feature in the stories are Charlie’s best friend Marv (who lives in the flat downstairs) and his sausage dog, Sizzles; Lola’s best friend Lotta; and Lola’s imaginary friend, Soren Lorensen. An important plot device is the Ruby Redfort collection, a series of fictional books in which Clarice Bean and Betty Moody frequently find inspiration.

Lauren Child's humorous illustrations contain many different mediums including magazine cuttings, collage, material and photography as well as traditional watercolours. As with a lot of these longer versions of picture books, it started off quite breezy and funny but then settled into something much more conventional. However, she gets to do a presentation on what she learned by reading Ruby Redford books, in spite of what her teacher thinks about the series. Eventually, Bert was able to find a new home but it only accepts one pet , Betty volunteered to keep one of his dog. She is therefore determined that Charlie and Lola will always be shown having the type of childhood that she herself enjoyed in the 1970s.

UTTERLY ME, CLARICE BEAN by Lauren Child - Publishers Weekly UTTERLY ME, CLARICE BEAN by Lauren Child - Publishers Weekly

Charlie’s efforts are not only creative and amusing, but are also evidence of how much he cares for his little sister. In Child’s series, the focus is completely on the endearing sibling relationship between seven-year-old Charlie and his sister Lola, who is nearly five. Clarice was trying to be an undercover detective and mystery solver inspired by her book Ruby Redfort .this was my favorite book as a child (along with the other two books from the clarice bean trilogy) and i decided to reread it today just for the heck of it!
