When I arrived, the Glen Oil marketing guys started on this long, show-offy ‘who’s-travelled-the-most?

Some adaptations stick very close to the source material, while others make a lot of changes - for better or for worse. Further, Emma's crochet-loving work friend Katie is gender-swapped to become Casey (Robert King) - though the tidbit about a potential significant other using Casey to do house repairs remains the same. Please feel free to have a look around, leave a message or simply read up on my latest book experience. It seems incredible now that women didn’t have the vote, it’s something we all just take for granted.

I’m Noly, language nerd, proofreader, editor, graphic designer, and obviously huge book lover with a continuously growing book collection! Though the book is fourteen years old, the angles of aiming for honesty and genuine communication, along with a repeat evaluation of how often any of us fall into a mob-mentality of mean-spirited piling on remain timely— perhaps more so than ever.

Emma told Jack on the plane that she thought Connor looked like Ken (as in Barbie’s) in blonde hair. What unfolds in the subsequent pages is the story of how Caitlin, a naive, unspoilt Australian girl from Magnetic Island came to be alone with her son in that beautiful, big house in America. As such, the majority of the changes made in the adaptation process are to other aspects, like the setting and supporting characters. I read this book around two weeks ago when I was still stuck in a reading slump (no thanks to the culprit that is One Day in December) and thankfully, it managed to get me out of that disastrous hell hole. Two and two are put together and Emma makes the realization that the person whom she spilled all of her embarrassing truths and secrets, is actually the CEO of the company that employs her. With her customary page-turning style and potent themes, this is Caroline Overington at her thought-provoking best.

Connor actually works in a different division at the same company as Emma, but she comes to terms – during the flight, too – that she and Connor just aren’t meant to be. A new musical adaptation by Chris Burgess of her 2001 novel Sleeping Arrangements premiered in 2013 in London at The Landor Theatre. Emma expects never to see him again so when he appears in her life she is mortified, he however, is intrigued. If you like a psychological thriller, just like I do, you will definitely want to read Can You Keep a Secret? She has a severe case of verbal diarrhoea and ends up spilling all of her secrets to a random guy sitting next to her.

Upon graduation, but prior to becoming a full-time author, Kinsella took up a job as a financial journalist. Now, don’t get me wrong, he is a business man and drop-dead-gorgeous and very nice and understanding and just plain swoonworthy, but there is a big BUT for me. My dislike of Jack aside, Kinsella’s book was an immensely readable book, with fully-realized, hilarious vignettes and characters we’ve all encountered in our life besides, I suppose, Jack, since he’s a mysterious millionaire (and presumably, considerably older than Emma? She is also the author of the children's series Mummy Fairy and Me / Fairy Mom and Me, and several bestselling novels under the name of Madeleine Wickham.
